The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is responsible for the planning, organization, and administration of nursing services to include staffing, training and development, communications, and documentation to maintain quality patient care standards and advise medical staff and department heads in matters relating to Nursing.
The CNO provides the direction and support required to affect high quality patient outcomes.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the CNO works closely with leadership to guide clinical services with a focus on achieving excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Lead and manage the nursing department, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices in patient care.Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures that align with the organization's mission and goals.Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to promote interdisciplinary communication and teamwork.Monitor and evaluate patient care practices, outcomes, and staff performance to ensure excellence in service delivery.Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development among nursing staff.Manage the nursing budget, including staffing levels, resource allocation, and operational costs.Serve as a liaison between nursing staff and administration, advocating for the needs and concerns of the nursing team.Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices in nursing and healthcare.Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes at the executive level.Ensure effective recruitment, retention, and training of nursing personnel.Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required, Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.Current nursing license and certification in the state of practice.Minimum of 7 years of nursing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, quality assurance, and patient safety standards.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.Commitment to patient-centered care and community.Proven experience in nursing leadership and management roles.Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse healthcare professionals and stakeholders.Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Commitment to patient-centered care and quality improvement.Advanced certifications such as Nurse Executive (NE-BC) are a plus.
