Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Trident's global operations produce finished wild Alaska seafood products in 6 countries and its sales teams serve customers in over 50 countries. Trident employs approximately 9,000 people worldwide each year and partners with over 5,400 independent fishermen and crewmembers. Species harvested and processed by Trident include virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. The global supply chain also includes cultured and wild species from a network of trusted sources worldwide.

To help us achieve our objectives, we are seeking a Chief of Staff who will be responsible for leading the executive office of the Chief Operations Officer (COO). This role is responsible for driving Rhythm of Business (RoB), Operational Excellence, Global and Local Executive Engagements, special projects, internal and external communications including high visibility engagements to our board of directors.
This is a significant role in terms of scope, responsibility, and influence. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse and senior network of stakeholders globally. Leadership dexterity, strategic planning experience, and ability to execute at rapid pace with focused collaboration are crucial to success in this role.

Business Operations Serves as the strategic advisor to the COO and execute the RoB, which includes planning, meetings, execution, and communication cycles that help align teams, track progress, and ensure everyone is working towards common goals.Plans and executes offsite leadership meetings, helping build and deploy short- and long-term business strategies and KPI's.Executes business plans to ensure continuous operations in both normal and adverse conditions.Directs organization-level projects/programs to meet our dynamic business environment. These will include managing complex business changes, organizational transformation, validation and testing of company contingency / disaster recovery plans.Works in close collaboration with the broader Trident business management and finance community to set company business standards, cross company KPI's, and drive organizational effectiveness across Trident.COO Engagements and Communications Leads executive-level communication with a variety of internal audiences, including across the COO leadership team, the Trident leadership team and Trident board of directors; will work closely with corporate communications in these efforts.Focuses on improving employee engagement to drive impactful internal and external comms, messaging, content for team meetings, all-hands and other events.Facilitate executive engagement with customers, business partners, suppliers, ensuring the right level of involvement of leaders in key meetings, communications, and events.Leverage executive, customer, partner, and employee surveys and other feedback sources to drive continuous improvement across all communication efforts.Organizational Health Improves our team culture by understanding current state organizational health, then lead cultural change initiatives to drive continuous improvement.Capitalizes on team strengths and identify development areas, strategizing, planning, and executing training as needed. In partnership with Human Resources, track Employee Signal responses and coordinate responses that enable change.Oversees progress on role-based compliance training and other new training that improves our training completion rates. Ensure a healthy compliance scorecard for the organization.Budget and Headcount Management Leads budget and resource planning and operations (from headcount to non-people spend to plants, facilities and vessels), leveraging knowledge of organizational strategy and planned deliverables.Partners with finance and procurement to provide visibility and additional level of details within the organization to drive budget accountability.People Management Drives employee growth and development, execute projects, and manage team performance.Assists managers in delivery success through empowerment and accountability by modeling and coaching our Trident leadership behaviors.Additional Responsibilities: Confidential Advisor: Serves as a sounding board for the COO, providing a safe space for discussing sensitive matters and offering honest feedback.Cross-functional coordination: Act as a liaison between departments, ensuring information flows smoothly and initiatives are aligned with company objectives.Efficiency Improvements: Identify inefficiencies in customer operations and implement process improvements to optimize performance and scalability.Operational Alignment: Work closely with global teams to unify practices, ensuring consistent execution of company-wide strategies.This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $200k to $350k.

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs) Bachelor's Degree in relevant fields (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 15+ years of experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources or business-related roles, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.A minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, operations, or similar leadership role.A minimum of 10 years of people management experience.Intimate knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure.Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and prioritize tasks effectively.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working across all levels of an organization.Proficient in data analysis, reporting tools, and operational software.Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.Experience driving initiatives in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.Proven experience managing large teams and fostering a collaborative workplace culture.Preferred education and experience Prior Chief of staff experience, strategy and planning development and execution experience, and/or related management consulting experience.A master's degree in business administration (MBA) or a related field.Experience in the manufacturing industry, with knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and supply chain management.Familiarity with operational tools such as ERP systems and data visualization software.Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or other related certifications.Expertise in change management and driving organizational transformations.Work environment (includes travel/on-call): This hybrid position will be a combination of remote and onsite at the Trident Support Center office in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, WA. Our hybrid work environment includes remote work on Monday and Friday and in-office in the Support Center on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
In-office time takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and moderate noise. While remote, employees must provide appropriate home office space.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time at a desk. Frequently required to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee will occasionally stand, walk, and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision for frequent use of a computer.
