Job Summary: The Chief Quality Officer is responsible for direction, coordination, and oversight of quality improvement, risk management, regulatory compliance, patient safety, system transformation, and performance improvement functions for Cook County Health (CCH), including two hospitals, an ambulatory and community health network, and other health services.
General Administrative Responsibilities: Collective Bargaining Review applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements and consult with Labor Relations. Participate in collective bargaining negotiations. Discipline Document, recommend, and effectuate discipline at all levels. Work closely with labor relations to effectuate and enforce applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements. Supervision Direct and effectuate CCH management policies and practices. Access and proficiently navigate CCH records system. Management Contribute to the management of CCH staff. Develop CCH system policies and procedures. Use independent judgment to identify operational staffing issues. Typical Duties: Direct all quality management, performance improvement, and patient safety activities. Establish and maintain mechanisms for monitoring quality outcomes. Work with CCH Leadership to create action plans. Design and maintain patient safety and risk management programs. Manage performance improvement projects. Collaborate with medical staff to develop quality initiatives. Report to CCH Leadership and the Quality Committee of the Board. Engage staff in improvement opportunities. Prepare and interpret reports and statistical data. Coordinate accreditation readiness activities. Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine (D.O.) degree OR a Master's degree in Healthcare Administration or related field with three (3) years of experience in a health system or safety net hospital. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in healthcare leadership positions. Experience in an academic or large teaching facility. Knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in managing quality-related awards. Ten years of experience in healthcare leadership regarding Quality Improvement Initiatives. Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Health Care Quality Management (HCQM). Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics: Knowledge in directing a quality improvement program. Experience with hospital regulatory and accreditation requirements. Knowledge in performance improvement techniques. Skilled in Microsoft Office. Excellent communication skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to laws and regulations. Physical and Environmental Demands: This position functions within a healthcare environment, adhering to all safety requirements.
