Job Summary: The Chief Supply Chain Officer will lead supply chain operations, which encompasses procurement, inventory management, distribution, strategic sourcing, value analysis, supply chain logistics, and contract and vendor management. The candidate will provide strategic leadership and expertise to support the Network's goals for efficiency, cost effectiveness, quality patient care, and operational growth that is consistent with the mission and vision of the WMCHealth Network. The CSCO will report directly to Chief Operating Officer. The Chief Supply Chain Officer will be a successful change agent who can develop strong relationships with senior leadership and build collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers. In this role, the CSCO will have system oversight of the policies, procedures, and business processes that will assure the integrity and best practice methodology of supply chain and strategic sourcing for the $2.6 billion WMCHealth Network. This visionary leader will create and execute a roadmap for transformation and innovative change ensuring that it meets expectations for improved services as well as efficiencies and savings.
Responsibilities: Supply Chain OperationsLead and manage the hospital's supply chain team, including purchasing, logistics, and distribution staff.Oversee the management of warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and distribution of supplies.Implement best practices, develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of supply chain operations.Implement and oversee supply chain management systems and technology to improve visibility, accuracy, and efficiency.Collaborate with the IT department to ensure the integration of supply chain systems with other hospital systems (e.g., ERP, EHR).Manage relationships with key suppliers and vendors to ensure a reliable supply chain.Ensure that inventory levels are optimized to meet patient care needs without overstocking.Implement systems for tracking inventory, reducing waste, and minimizing stockouts.Strategic Planning & Stakeholder CollaborationDevelop and implement supply chain strategies that align with the hospital's overall mission and objectives.Forecast demand, plan inventory levels, and manage supply chain operations to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.Develop and maintain a strategic action plan for transformation of WMCHealth Network supply chain process.Work closely with clinical and administrative leaders to understand their supply needs and ensure timely and accurate fulfillment.Communicate supply chain performance and initiatives to senior leadership and other stakeholders.Financial ManagementDevelop and manage the supply chain budget, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency.Analyze financial data related to supply chain operations and make recommendations for cost savings.Develop, execute and expand strategic sourcing initiatives, establish and achieve cost savings targets, and determine financial impact of these initiatives.Ensure key financial metrics are monitored, such as inventory turnover rates, stockout rates, etc.Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure the best terms and prices while ensuring quality and reliability.Diversity & InclusionMaintain a supplier diversity program that promotes the inclusion of diverse suppliers, including minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, and small businesses. This program aims to enhance the hospital's supply chain resilience, foster innovation, and support the economic development of underrepresented communities.Compliance & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and hospital policies related to supply chain management.Identify and mitigate risks related to the supply chain, including supply disruptions and regulatory changes.Develop and maintain policies and rules that balance best business practices, organizational goals, compliance, etc.Qualifications/Requirements: Experience: At least 10-15 years of relevant supply chain/procurement experience, preferably in a large, highly matrixed hospital, health system, and/or integrated delivery system, required.
Education: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, healthcare administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
Licenses / Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), or equivalent are highly desirable.
Other: Demonstrated technical skills and mindset in logistics and supply chain management, including supply chain optimization. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential for success in this collaborative work environment.
