The role will work hybrid (no less than three days per week on-site) at one of our following offices: San Antonio, TX, Chicago, IL, New York City, NY, Rockwood, PA or Richmond, VA office. SCOPE OF WORK Develop underwriting strategies which produce expected profitability and are consistent with the Company's overall strategy Comply with all statutory laws, regulations and protocols Ensure compliance with all reinsurance treaties Manage and control facultative reinsurance placements Ensure resources are properly planned and maintained in all areas of responsibility Lead underwriting planning Lead change Train, mentor, coach and supervise all direct reports and all constituents who affect Rockwood customers Manage the execution of the Rockwood's service model Manage and integrate the Underwriting and Loss Control teams Delegate underwriting authority as appropriate. Operate within established Line of Authority (LOA) and obtain any required approvals that may fall outside of that authority Advance knowledge of Rockwood products and service capabilities Advance process improvements and support efforts that will increase productivity and efficiency Produce various reports for both internal and external stakeholders Enhance and manage the Company's marketing strategy Direct all facets of product sales and services Monitor and manage rate, product form, and rule changes Monitor losses and direct appropriate underwriting action and loss control resources Communicate accurately and clearly both orally and in writing Maintain constant review of changes in the marketplace for potential new business opportunities This position will require communicating both corporate changes as well as changes from the various insurance industry regulators to subordinates STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE Achieve financial and strategic goals Effectively represent Rockwood with key customers Compliance with all regulatory entities and internal controls Perform work in a logical, orderly & skillful manner High level of business acumen within insurance and of the specialty businesses insured Competence with multiple lines of insurance Maintain a high level of quality work product Manage assignments to assure results are accurate and completed on schedule Maintain client focus with our agents, policyholders, and strategic partners Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment and be capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals Safeguard confidential information Detail oriented with initiative and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills 30% of the time may involve travel for business related functions REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS 15+ years of experience Bachelor's degree or CPCU required Ability to say no as tactfully as saying yes PA Insurance Producer's License required Proficient in the use of computer programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access
