Provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to our outpatient clientele. Helps individuals manage their mental health conditions and improve their overall well-being.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments to diagnose mental health conditions.Formulate accurate treatment plans based on assessment findings and clinical judgment.Schedule and conduct regular follow-up appointments to assess patient progress.Modify treatment plans as required to meet changing patient needs.Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications as appropriate.Monitor medication efficacy and side effects, making adjustments as needed.Educate patients about their medications, potential side effects, risks and benefits.Provide psychotherapy or counseling services as needed or collaborate with therapists and psychologists to offer comprehensive care.Offer evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT), and others.Provide crisis intervention and emergency consultations as needed.Assess and manage acute psychiatric crises and coordinate higher levels of care when necessary.Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessment notes, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and support staff, to ensure holistic patient care.Consult with other healthcare providers and specialists as needed for comorbid medical conditions.Stay current with developments in the field of psychiatry by participating in continuing education, attending conferences, and reading research literature.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Empathy and a patient-centered approach to care.Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school required.Board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry required.State medical license to practice psychiatry required.Completion of a psychiatry residency program and child fellowship required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience in outpatient psychiatry preferred.Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred.Diversity is more than a commitment at Boys Town—it is the foundation of who we are and what we do.
