DIVISION: Education, Employment & Supportive Services

JOB TITLE: Child Care Services Coordinator

POSITION STATUS: Regular, Full-Time

EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt

PAYSCALE GRADE: 11-12-13

REPORTS TO: Child Care Program Director

The Child Care Services Coordinator will assist in overseeing the Kawerak Child Care Program in the Bering Strait region to increase availability, affordability, and quality child care by supporting low-income working families and those who attend training and education programs through financial assistance.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the Child Care Program Director in the administration of regional child care services and ensure that the goals and objectives of the program are achieved.

Assist in ensuring compliance that all applicable federal rules and regulations, state child care licensing, and Kawerak policies and procedures are adhered to.

Assist child care provider applicants to become a tribally approved or State licensed provider, ensuring all health & safety requirements are met.

Provide information on child care requirements including standards, reporting and payment schedules to established home providers.

Recruit and maintain a list of child care providers.

Process monthly approved provider invoices, timesheets, and payments.

Assist as needed to review UPLC billing and reconciliation of child accounts.

Distribute supplies and equipment to child care providers.

Assist child care subsidy applicants with the application, verify income, and eligibility.

Assist in the coordination and oversight of Quality Activities.

Assist in the coordination of support systems and training opportunities for child care providers as needed or requested.

Required to travel to remote villages to recruit and provide services to child care providers and subsidy eligible families.

Maintain child care provider and parent subsidy files and ensure they're kept up-to-date per regulations and policies.

Compile and maintain all provider and parent information in the database for federal reporting.

Coordinate the promotion of child care services through the distribution of public advertising, social media, website, community meetings, outreach events, etc.

Participate in meetings, trainings, and conferences as required to keep knowledgeable of child care rules and regulations, training, and issues that arise.

Meet and greet individuals, answer questions and phone calls regarding the program.

Other duties as assigned by the Child Care Program Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED required. Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services or related field preferred. Must be willing to work toward Associates Degree if not yet obtained.

Must be 18 years of age by the date of hire.

Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, including demonstrated writing ability required.

Must be self-motivated, dependable and able to work with minimum supervision.

Able to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds.

Computer, keyboarding and office skills required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows and Internet skills required.

Must be willing and able to travel.

Must be willing to work an adjustable schedule to conduct home visits outside of provider's regular child care schedule to ensure home visit does not conflict with care of children.

This position is aCovered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act AS 47.05.310-47.05.390, 7 AAC 10.900-10.990, and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, 25 USC ******** (ICPA).A background check clearance is required, including fingerprints, and the employee's name will be submitted to the Background Check Unit of the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services and entered into their central registry.Barrier Crimes Act and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.
