Chill's mission is to inspire young people through boardsports and build a more equitable outdoor community. Chill exists to ensure youth have the skills and experiences to become mindful, independent, and resilient individuals who are able to take on new challenges and welcome growth opportunities; to bridge the boardsport and outdoor opportunity gaps and foster a sense of belonging within a cool, authentic, and alternative culture; and to create inclusive space and meaningful experiences for all youth, while being mindful of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, and other intersecting identities.
Chill is committed to building an inclusive team, and strongly encourages candidates with diverse backgrounds and identities to apply. We will prioritize filling this position with qualified candidates who reflect our youth through lived experience as someone from a marginalized community or with diverse and intersecting identities, including race, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, and other intersecting identities. About Chill's Programs & Chill Evolution Chill programs serving youth 11 to 19 revolve around a core value-driven curriculum and consist of experiential learning activities, reflection, and discussion, paired with boardsport lessons. Chill removes all barriers to accessing boardsports by providing participants with everything they need to get after it, at absolutely no cost. New skills gained through boardsport progression and core-value exploration are then directly applied to everyday life, challenging youth to step out of their comfort zone – both on and off their board.
Evolution is part of Chill's new strategic plan launched in 2023. This initiative aims to create multiple opportunities for young people to progress in boardsports and in the outdoor industry after graduating from youth programs. Evolution is an organization-wide initiative and all staff at Chill are involved. Since its founding nearly 30 years ago, over 30,000 young people have participated in a Chill program. Chill recognizes that building a vibrant, active alumni network is a major opportunity to expand its impact and support the continued success of thousands of young adults in the Chill community. A key component of Evolution is to build this alumni network and build on, develop and launch alumni initiatives.
