Overview:
The Circular Business Manager develops and executes recycling projects that transform used polystyrene and other plastics into recycled polystyrene or feedstocks that can be manufactured into polystyrene. This leader will ensure AmSty achieves sustainability commitments for higher rates of recycled content in the polymers and monomers we produce. The role requires a balanced skill set of strong leadership, analytics, relationship management, communications, drive for results, and extensive knowledge of recycling technologies and systems. Reports to the Director of Sustainability.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee existing recycling projects to ensure continuity of output
Develop a pipeline of recycling projects by working across the value chain to identify potential used plastic feedstocks, end markets, and relevant recycling technologies to connect the chain
Prioritize opportunities to accelerate commercialization of the most promising and impactful
Also develop, nurture, and bring to life strategic projects that might take more time to fruition but will move the needle significantly on sustainability goals
Engage in the broader plastics and recycling industries and networks to evaluate emerging technologies and build a network of contacts that collectively can open doors to opportunities and accelerate progress
Achieve 10MM tons by 2026 of recycled polystyrene from mechanical and dissolution projects and ramp toward 35MM tons by 2030. Lean forward to accelerate the timeline and exceed volume targets where possible
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related degree
At least ten years' experience in the plastic recycling industry
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
Track record of strong leadership
Superb analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Impactful presentation skills
Proven record of success working in cross-functional teams
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SAP
