Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer to be based in Detroit, MI or Grand Rapids, MI.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Perform Computer-aided design and drafting of site layout, roadway, grading, and utility systems using tools including, but not limited to AutoCAD Civil3D.
+ Perform hydraulic modeling for storm, sanitary, and water utility networks.
Teach younger staff how to perform modeling and technical calculations.
+ Perform report preparation, site reconnaissance, and communications with the AECOM project team.
+ Reviews regulations and standards necessary to carry out project design and permitting work.
+ Analyze reports, maps, drawings, tests, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects.
+ Incorporates schedules, budgets and project criteria into civil design and layouts.
+ Conducts site visits at active construction sites to examine field conditions, site work that is under construction, site utilities, sediment and erosion control inspections, as built conditions.
+ Works closely with the project team, including civil, geotechnical, traffic engineers, architects, electrical engineers, plumbing engineers, fire protection engineers, and surveyors to provide value to each project.
+ Works under supervision of department technical leader.
+ Mentors younger staff on their path to becoming licensed engineers.
+ Support department technical leader in project design.
+ Exercises judgement limited to developing details of work in making preliminary decisions and material selections, and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
+ Utilizes standard techniques, procedures, and criteria while gaining understanding of advanced methods.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
+ US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work
+ Valid US Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications :
+ Strong working experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
+ Experience in design and permitting of site utilities including water, sanitary sewer and storm drainage
+ Experience working on city / county civil infrastructure such as: public watermain, sewer improvements, lift stations,
+ Experience in site/civil land development projects.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
+ Strong organizational, technical, and communications skills
+ Michigan or Minnesota, work experience is preferred.
+ PE License

+ Offered rate of compensation (Michigan locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
The salary range for this position is $61063.44 - $112967.37
