Job Summary:
The Civil Engineer Project Manager organizes, manages, and plans complex projects related to the design, planning, and supervision of commercial and residential land development projects. This position reports to the Civil Engineering Department Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directs and oversees a team of staff members to ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications.
Delegates work and assignments to team members based on expertise, work experience, and time constraints.
May hire and train engineering department staff.
May organize and oversee the schedules and work of engineering staff.
May conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
May handle discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Leads an interdepartmental team to complete an assigned project on time, to specifications, and with accuracy and efficiency despite changing conditions.
Outlines the tasks involved in the project and delegates accordingly.
Conducts cost analysis, estimating expected costs for the project such as materials, equipment, and labor.
Prepares and implements a budget based on estimates.
Ensures all necessary permitting related to each project occurs with relevant governmental agencies in a timely and effective manner.
Conducts risk assessments; reports identified risks to management; provides recommendations for mitigation of risk.
Achieves results aligned with the vision and strategic goals of the company.
Acts as a liaison between company, customers, and vendors.
Addresses questions, concerns, and/or complaints throughout the project.
Communicates and collaborates with sales and marketing teams to provide training and information required to promote and sell new projects, programs, and systems.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.
Consults with and provides guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, modifications, and structural repairs.
Uses design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs; plans and designs other necessary and related systems and structures.
Sets design specifications by computing load and grade requirements, material stress factors, water flow rates, and similar parameters.
Plans projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
Drafts and presents reports on topics related to projects such as environmental impact statements, due diligence and feasibility reports on properties of interest, and right-of-way descriptions.
Collaborates with architects and contractors to ensure projects progress properly.
Collaborates with surveyors (or directs and participates in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.
On completion of a project, inspects, repairs, and maintains the structures as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Skilled leading internal teams and coordinating meetings and calls with clients and subconsultants.
Proficient in producing construction plans in computer-assisted design (CAD), AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other design, data recording, and analyzation software.
Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of various structures.
Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.
Good listener and team player with a positive attitude.
Critical thinker who uses logic and reason to identify and solve complex problems.
Excellent organizational skills and detail orientation with ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy.

Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
Education, Licensure, and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
Licensure as professional engineer (PE) required.
Minimum 5 years of civil site and drainage experience required.
Large single family, townhome, and multi-family residential development experience preferred.
Professional office and

industrial/warehouse

development project experience preferred.
Permitting experience in Central Florida with city and county agencies preferred.
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) permitting experience preferred.
Paving, grading, drainage, water, sewer, and utility design experience required.
Construction administration, observation, and certification experience preferred.
Salary: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
