Job Summary The Civil Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for civil engineering aspects of construction projects, with a focus on Infrastructure, Facility Construction, and Renewable Energy. This role requires specialized knowledge of civil engineering principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Civil Estimator Responsibilities Analyze civil engineering drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates. Perform comprehensive quality take-offs from construction drawings and specifications. Estimate labor, material, and equipment costs for site work, foundations, structures, and other civil engineering components. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other estimators to ensure comprehensive project estimates. Conduct quantity takeoffs for earthwork, concrete, rebar, and other civil engineering materials. Research and stay current with material pricing, industry trends, and estimating techniques in civil construction. Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather crucial project information. Assist in preparing bid proposals and presentations for management and clients. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing. Utilize and maintain proficiency in industry-standard estimating software. Ensure all civil estimates comply with company standards, building codes, and industry regulations. Civil Estimator Qualifications Proven experience in civil estimating, preferably in pipeline, commercial, and renewable energy projects. Strong proficiency in quantity take-offs and cost estimating techniques. Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and construction methods. Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with high attention to detail. Proficiency in reading and interpreting civil engineering drawings and specifications. Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainable construction practices. Required Experience Civil Estimating 3 - 5 Years Desired Skills and Qualifications Excellent quantity take-off skills, and the ability to quickly and accurately extract measurements and quantities from construction documents. Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) for quantity take-offs. Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) from the American Society of Professional Estimators. Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification. Proficiency in civil estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, B2W Estimate, or Trimble Business Center. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar CAD software. Knowledge of LEED certification requirements for site development. Benefits 401k with match.
