Our firm specializes in defending complex civil litigation matters, including fire and explosion cases, products liability, insurance defense, professional liability, and construction litigation.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with the right experience to inherit part of a practice, as a senior partner is retiring soon.
Key Responsibilities: Manage a diverse caseload of civil defense matters such as fire/explosion, products liability, insurance defense, and construction litigation.
Independently handle all aspects of cases, including depositions (particularly expert depositions), drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs, and engaging in discovery.
Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and occasionally court appearancescourtroom experience preferred but not required.
Collaborate with clients, experts, and colleagues to craft strong defense strategies.
Conduct site visits and attend depositions, hearings, and other legal proceedings as necessary.
Provide mentorship to junior attorneys as needed.
Qualifications: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in Kansas and Missouri (or at least one with a willingness to become licensed in the other).
Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil litigation defense, including conducting depositions and expert depositions independently.
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
Some courtroom experience preferred but not required.
Ability to work independently and remotely, while managing a full caseload.
