Summary: The Claims Admin I will provide administrative support for the claims department and will adjust non-compensatory (med only/no time loss) claim files and/or liability and cargo damage files.
Essential Duties: Use of claim system to set up and adjust claim files; Administrative support and help desk for in house claims system; Written and verbal communication with medical, legal and governing agencies and internal operations and claims personnel; Claim intake and initial investigation and interview with claimants and key personnel and witnesses; Daily written and verbal communication with union employees and non-employed individuals filing claims; Ensuring statutory compliance with US Department of Labor filings and timelines and tort statutes; Research, information gathering regarding claims; Establish claim files electronically; Maintain and update claims filings; Maintain up to date claim diaries and notes within claims management system; Review and audit medical bills, repair invoices, and claim filings; Prepare outgoing correspondence; Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests; Gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
Maintain spreadsheet and in house claims system for record keeping and analysis; Copy files; Work directly with claims manager remotely to handle all aspects of claims support through completion of claim file.
Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience, Certifications): Minimum of a high school diploma or GED Claims office background 1-2 years 0 months - 1 yr Longshore or Maritime claims administration of equivalent insurance industry Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent computer skills including all Microsoft Office suite with intermediate Excel and Word Excellent communication skills Well organized,attention to detail Ability to work efficiently and resourcefully with minimal supervision.
