Claims Research Analyst

The Claims Research Analyst serves our Claims Adjusting teams with research support, intaking requests/inquiries and providing guidance as appropriate. This individual will also utilize their expertise to assist with the redesign and continued maintenance of the Company's internal, online resource utilized by Adjusting staff (e.g., perform updates, creation of new materials, continued input as to suggestions for improvements).
\n ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESAudits existing resource content and researches basic to moderately complex case law as needed to ensure accuracy and thoroughness of content for assigned jurisdiction(s).   Identifies need for revision or creation of material for resource.  Utilizes basic coding skills and resource administrative functions to rearrange, update, or propose changes to system display.   Produces and presents content draft that is esthetically pleasing, easy to navigate, and impactful for learning by users to Supervisor and/or Claims management for approval.  Maintains and expands network of State contacts and information repositories to effectively confirm legal interpretations of compliance standards by State officials, representatives, and defense counsel.  Intakes and reviews standard research requests.  Works with team members and Supervisor to complete requests in a timely manner utilizing various research tools (e.g., LexisNexis).  Cohesively and concisely summarizes various caselaw, statutes and legal opinions applicable to request.  Continuously builds and maintains open lines of communication with relevant Adjusting staff to encourage inquiries and feedback and facilitate timely reporting and maintenance of compliance standards.  Performs other related duties or special projects as assigned by Company leadership or as situation dictates. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation: High School diploma or equivalent certificate required; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Technical Communication, or related field from an accredited college or university, and/or Paralegal certification from accredited program, highly preferred.Experience: Minimum of one year of workers compensation claims handling experience, preferably within a multi-jurisdictional carrier, required. Prior experience conducting/summarizing legal research highly preferred. Familiarization with/prior experience performing HTML coding required. Computer Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required. Demonstrated proficiency in use of proprietary software applications, or ability to quickly master required applications.    Basic knowledge of HTML coding required.Technical Skills: Knowledge of legal research, including use of LexisNexis, and proficiency in maintaining database of materials, is highly preferred.   Demonstrated proficiency in basic workers compensation claims handling, standard operating procedure and industry best practices for adjusting, required; Multi-jurisdictional knowledge is desirable. Basic understanding of technical writing, reference material design and construction, preferred. Creativity and Innovation: Takes initiative – consistently acts without prompting as appropriate for role. Willingness to explore new ideas; provides input or assistance as necessary. Asks needed questions to stay on top of current situation.
\nIn accordance with the California Equal Pay Act, the pay scale for this job is $26.4255 to $34.7164 per hour.  This pay scale is an estimate of the hourly range the employer reasonably expects to pay for the position based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs and other considerations consistent with applicable law. The actual hourly wage may be above or below the range. The pay scale applies only to this position and only if it is filled in Sacramento, California. The pay scale may be different for other positions or in other locations.
