New-to-Mastery Support Staff can expect to receive an hourly rate of between $22.38 and $37.50 based on years' of experience and level of education. This is a part-time role where you will work a total of 29 hours/week, Monday-Friday. Position Summary: The classroom counselor is committed to supporting students with emotional disabilities and other health impairments gain academic and behavioral success in the special education and general education setting.
\n Duties and Responsibilities: Ability to implement small group academic supportsAbility to teach and reinforce appropriate positive behaviorsAbility to de-escalate and manage student in crisisAbility to collaborate with general and special education teachers to implement Positive Behavior Supports for student with Emotional Support needsAbility to work as a team member to create and reinforce a healthy classroom culture for staff and students. Completing other identified tasks Qualifications:Behavioral management knowledgeExperience working with students in an educational settingSuccessful experience working with student with Emotional Support needs (preferred)Detail-oriented and committed to collect specified behavioral data to support student programmingStrong interpersonal communication skillsAbility to work well as a member of a classroom and school teamResults-oriented individual – a flexible thinker willing to do "whatever it takes."Belief in the Mastery Charter School mission and instructional modelOpen to continuously develop behavioral management skills through professional development Education and Experience:Associate's Degree (or at least 48 college credits) or passing score of ParaPro exam required; education-related field preferredExperience working with adolescents, school-setting experience preferredExperience working with students receiving special education services Physical Requirements:Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required such as maneuvering in classrooms and physically supporting students in the classroom; Standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, speak loudly and clearly, seeing and hearing things both near and far away, stooping, kneeling, fine finger and hand manipulation in use of a computer, chalkboard, dry erase board or projector.
