Description of Work

*This is an anticipated vacancy*
The primary purpose of the Client Information Analyst is to maintain quality control over resident records; ensuring resident records are current, complete, readily accessible and consistent with policies, state and federal regulations, North Carolina General Statutes and Confidentiality Regulations in the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). The Client Information Analyst must have a thorough understanding of the content of the medical record in order to locate information to provide specificity for applying a particular code. Job responsibilities include the following:
File, maintain and purge all resident records including the program, medical, and active records.
Serve on a rotation schedule to input evening census into the HEARTS (Healthcare Enterprise and Accounts Receivable Tracking System) census/billing system.
Responsible for applying accurate ICD-10 codes to secondary diagnoses and for translating diagnostic phrases used by the healthcare provider into coded form.
Consult with professional staff, i.e., physician, nurse, psychologist, audiologist, communication therapist, etc., to ensure terms have been translated correctly.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess all the following:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Requires experience with answering phones & providing customer service.
Ability to utilize basic office equipment such as computers, fax machines, copiers and printers.
Skill in organization, retention, review and filing of Medical records.
Demonstrated ability to record, compile, summarize and analyze data.
Demonstrated experience in maintaining confidential information.
Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology.
Demonstrate Knowledge of ICD-10 Coding.
Management Preferences:

One-year experience in an Intermediate Care Facility with Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities.
Experience using ICD-10 coding.
Two-year degree in Medical Records Science, Health Information Technology and/or the ability to apply medical records theory.
Possess analytical skills and knowledge of computer programs.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and make decisions as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift 20 pounds, bend, walk distances and meet other requirements of the job as listed in ADA Checklist.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
