Description: Position summary: The Department of Nutrition at the University of Tennessee invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure track clinical faculty position with an expected start in summer 2024. This faculty member will have responsibility as the Director of ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) and contribute to teaching (classroom and clinical) in the DPD and ACEND-accredited Graduate Program in Nutrition and Dietetics (GP).
The individual in this position will contribute to the mission and strategic priorities of the ACEND-accredited dietetics programs, Department of Nutrition, College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Position Responsibilities:
DPD Director (20%)
Manage all aspects of the DPD Program including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Ensure and maintain compliance of the DPD Program with the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) standards,
Teaching (70%)
Direct student learning in the clinical setting and clinic-based student experiences in assigned clinical sites ensuring compliance with ACEND requirements.
Collaborate with the GP program director to identify the types of clinical experiences needed for optimal clinical education of students
Teach campus-based undergraduate and graduate nutrition courses as assigned, ensuring compliance with ACEND requirements.
Service (10%)
Serve on Department, College and University Committees depending upon experience, interest, and program needs.
Participate in departmental faculty meetings, community and professional activities as appropriate.
Qualifications: Required Qualifications:
· Earned master's degree or higher
· Credentialed as a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
· Licensed as a dietitian nutritionist (LDN) in Tennessee or eligible to apply for Tennessee licensure. If not already licensed, the application process must commence by the start of employment.
· 1 years clinical practice experience post credentialing
· Prior experience working in or with an ACEND accredited dietetics program
· Evidence of successful clinical and/or classroom teaching experience
· Effective interpersonal skills
· Ability to direct evidence-based medical nutrition therapy intervention for a variety of conditions including, but not limited to, overweight/obesity, hypertension, prediabetes, diabetes, and behavioral health conditions in adults and children
· Ability to work effectively and collegially with a diverse group of students and colleagues
· Ability to meet requirements for onboarding with the program's primary clinical partner, Cherokee Health Systems
Desirable Qualifications:
· Doctoral degree in nutrition or related field
· 3 years of clinical practice experience post credentialing
· Expertise in motivational interviewing and the ability to guide students in developing motivational interviewing skills
· Experience with instructional media and technology
· Clinical experience with underserved populations
· 3 years of experience directing an ACEND-accredited program (DPD or other).
