The Clinical Laboratory Manager is a key figure responsible for the comprehensive oversight of both the technical and scientific operations within Bioreach's clinical laboratory. This multifaceted role encompasses managing all laboratory procedures and ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards set forth by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and the Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA).
The manager will lead with a focus on innovation and efficiency, actively seeking out creative solutions to enhance laboratory processes and improve patient outcomes. This role also requires the ability to respond with urgency to challenges that may arise, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and effective decision-making.
A significant aspect of this position includes overseeing regulatory validations, which is critical for maintaining the laboratory's operational integrity and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in this area, ensuring that all laboratory practices not only meet but exceed the necessary regulatory requirements. This role is vital in fostering a culture of excellence within the laboratory team while ensuring the delivery of high-quality laboratory services. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Specimen Handling: Safely collect, prepare, and process clinical specimens, ensuring proper patient identification and maintaining the chain of custody for all applicable specimens.Laboratory Operations: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as microscopes, centrifuges, and pipettors. Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment and adhere to established protocols.Documentation & Compliance:Maintain records with precision and ensure compliance with accreditation and certification requirements (e.g., CLIA, COLA).Inventory Management: Order and manage laboratory supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.Quality & Safety:Implement quality control, infection control, and safety standards.Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all safety protocols to manage exposure to potential risks.Team Collaboration: Actively contribute to a positive and supportive team environment, providing professional communication and assistance to patients, team members, and providers.Other Duties: Perform other assigned tasks that support the operational efficiency and success of the laboratory.Qualifications and Skills:Technical Proficiency:Skilled in operating laboratory equipment and utilizing LIS/EMR systems.Knowledge of clinical laboratory standards, accreditation requirements, and established safety protocols.Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, ensuring clarity and professionalism.Customer Service: Friendly and patient-focused with the ability to provide cheerful, helpful service while adhering to office policies.Attention to Detail: Meticulous in handling specimens, maintaining records, and following protocols to ensure high-quality outcomes.Adaptability: Flexible and positive, capable of adjusting to evolving responsibilities and conditions.Team-Oriented: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse team environment.Working Conditions:Physical Effort: Light physical activity, including frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting objects up to 20 pounds.Environment: Exposure to laboratory hazards such as infectious specimens, communicable diseases, and potentially harmful substances. Adherence to safety measures, including the use of PPE, is mandatory.Technology Use: Frequent use of computers, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment.Interaction: Engage with a diverse range of patients, providers, team members, insurance representatives, and the general public.
