Wood County Hospital is accepting applications for Clinical Nurse Technicians in our Acute Care department. The CNT provides personal care and professional excellence by delivering direct/indirect care to patients of all ages from pediatric, adolescent, and adult to geriatric, under the delegation/direction/supervision of a physician, registered nurse, and/or licensed practical nurse. Assists in maintaining a safe, clean environment and performs clerical/administrative functions as assigned.
Job duties: Under the delegation/direction/supervision of the physician, registered nurse, and/or licensed practical nurse and within the scope of practice, provides/assists with and accurately documents activities of daily living (ADLs) which include but are not limited to:
BathingDressing and undressingOral careHair CareToiletingPersonal hygieneMobility as activity order allows.Feeding/hydration which includes:preparing patients for mealtimes by assisting those that need help in getting positioned properly.feeding patients requiring help or assisting with tray/food set-upproviding fresh drinking water.providing between meal nourishment as diet order allows. collecting and serving food trays.Positioning/repositioning and following turn schedules.Performing skin care and pressure ulcer prevention techniques and notifying the RN of any skin care issues.Under the delegation/direction/supervision of the physician, registered nurse, and/or licensed practical nurse and within the scope of practice, provides/assists with and accurately documents patient monitoring, which includes but is not limited to:
Obtaining patient's blood glucose per capillary finger-stick as ordered and notifying RN of results.Observing and recording the patient's intake and output, and/or calorie count; and notifying the RN of any deviations from the usual.Obtaining accurate blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, and SaO2 and notifying the RN of abnormal vital signs immediately.Obtaining patient's height and/or weight.Performing Point of Care (POC) testing (e.g. urine pregnancy testing, urine dip testing) and notifying the RN of results. Responding to and silencing peripheral IV and bed/chair alarms and notifying the RN immediately.Discontinuing peripheral IVs.Applying and/or removing non-sterile dressings and compresses and reporting abnormal findings to the RN. Performing hourly purposeful rounding in collaboration with the RN.Serving as a safety companion.Shift Details: Hours: Part Time 24 hours per week
Shift: 5:45 am-6:15 pm
May include weekend, and holiday rotation.
