The Clinical Therapist III, EMYL treats patients by utilizing a variety of modalities as a member of the multidisciplinary clinical treatment team. Provides clinical supervision to team members including those working towards advanced licensure.
Responsibilities A day in the life of a Clinical Therapist III at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
Provides a comprehensive assessment of a patient's psychosocial needs and develops treatment plans and treatment plan reviews based on findings and according to department policy. Provides effective behavioral health treatment and education to patients, including assessment or therapy (individual and/or group), and shares and interprets information to staff, families, and/or other approved agencies. Provides services to patients in accordance with Licensure regulations defined by the respective licensure board, i.e., ASWB or NBCC. Utilizes knowledge of growth and development, and an understanding of the evidence-based treatment options available for specific populations, when developing treatment plans. Assists in preparation, coordination, and evaluation of social work policy and procedure. Assists with interview and orientation of new staff members. Supervises social work/counseling students completing field placement. Assists in the developing and evaluating of quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. Attends committee meetings and completes administrative tasks such as statistical analysis of patient volume. Completes all documentation written reports in a timely fashion in accordance with department and hospital policy as required by the Medical Center or Agency policy. Provides comprehensive case management services/assessment as warranted. Assess Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and provide information, education and/or referrals as appropriate to meet identified patient needs. Collaborates with the patient (with their consent), family, and other support persons involved in the patient's care to develop a comprehensive discharge plan that best meets the continuing care needs of the patient. Reassesses treatment plan on an ongoing basis, evaluates progress, and revises plan when clinically indicated. Maintains protected patient health information as required by law, State Licensing, TJC and HMH policy. Assists other behavioral/medical team members in responding to emergencies. Has a working knowledge of various community agencies and resources and refers patients when appropriate. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs. and stands a minimum of 4 hours a day. Additional duties as assigned. In addition to the responsibilities listed in this job description, it is understood that each department/program may have specific requirements and/or regulations based on the level of care and treatments/services provided and/or the patient population receiving those treatments/services. Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or Master's degree in Counseling, or related fields. Minimum of 5 years in post advanced license experience. Proficiency with policy review and program planning. Ability to work as part of a team, while building collaborative relationships. Must possess excellent follow through and attention to detail. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to team members. Licenses and Certifications Required:
Professional Counselor License or NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counselor. Approved Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Social Worker Supervision Certification. For the BHSU Assigned Clinical Therapist III must have the following qualifications: Independently licensed LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist who has either an LCADC/CADC or at least two years of experience providing direct clinical services to youth and young adults with co-occurring behavioral health and substance use treatment needs. Valid Drivers License from a USA State. AHA HeartSaver First Aid CPR AED Certification, or completed within the first 90 days of employment. Carrier Clinic Specific Certification: Handle with Care certification, or completion required during new hire orientation.
