MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL (MSW, masters in counseling/psychology or equivalent, LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, or equivalent) POSITION SUMMARY
The Mental Health Professional will work as part of a multidisciplinary team with all other disciplines on the Behavioral Health Unit to provide a proactive and collaborative approach in serving the patient population.
MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL (LCSW, LCPC, LMSW, LPC) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Clinical Therapists provide essential services to an underserved population.
Specifically, Clinical Therapists facilitate evidence-based treatment services for individuals convicted of sexual offenses with the ultimate goal of No More Victims.
Our program views sexual offense conduct as a symptom of broader issues, and with that in mind, we provide a holistic, strength-based treatment program consistent with the best practices set forth by the Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse (ATSA).
The ultimate goal of ending sexual violence is accomplished through addressing the dynamic (i.e., changeable) risk factors that led an individual to engage in such conduct, and at the same time, improving their quality of life, developing a sense of purpose, and establishing healthy behaviors in order to navigate life without harming others.
Clinical Therapists serve an essential role in the facilitation of group-based treatment using a cognitive-behavioral model.
Elements of motivational interviewing and the Good Lives Model are used to address individual treatment needs.
They are responsible for overseeing the treatment progress of individuals in their care, documenting such progress, and identifying emerging needs.
Clinical Therapists work closely with members of an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide the treatment necessary to reduce risk of recidivism.
An ideal candidate holds a masters degree in a human service-related field (e.g., social work, psychology, mental health counseling).
Candidates must be LICSW or LMHC-eligible, but licensure is not required at the time of hire.
Ideal candidates are conscientious, intellectually curious, excellent team players, maintain strong boundaries, and possess good clinical writing skills.
Candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment with challenging clinical cases are especially well-suited for this position.
Individual clinical supervision is provided on a weekly basis at no cost to Clinical Therapists, and weekly group and small-team supervision is also provided; candidates should be open to the clinical supervision process, as well as receptive to and willing to implement feedback.
Prior experience working in the field of sexual abuse treatment and prevention is not required; all necessary training is provided following official hire.
Clinical Therapist candidates with independent licensure may be considered for promotional opportunities, which includes leading treatment teams.
Clinical Therapists are required to work on site at the Massachusetts Treatment Center from 8AM until 4PM; nights and weekends are not required.
The following is a brief outline of core tasks completed by Clinical Therapists:
Facilitation and co-facilitation of process-oriented treatment groups
