Position Summary: The Department of Family and Community Medicine seeks a qualified Family Medicine Physician with special interest and training in surgical obstetrics who is passionate about service and education. This position will focus on Maternal Child Health and primary care. The faculty will work as an attending physician on the Family Medicine Maternal and Child Health service (MCH), provide addiction consultation for inpatient pregnant patients with substance use disorder, attend in the University Hospital newborn service (level one), and potentially the intermediate care nursery (level two). The education focus includes teaching UNM medical students, UNM Family Medicine residents, Family Medicine MCH fellows and residents in pediatrics and Ob/Gyn. UNM MCH has a strong community-based focus with partnerships with the community and rural family medicine practices. Abundant research opportunities are available if interested.
Minimum Requirements: Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy; board eligible/certified in Family Medicine by the ABFP or AOAFamily Medicine Obstetrics or MCH Fellowship or equivalent training and experience to obtain operative obstetric privilegesEligible for medical licensure in NMEligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification and federal DEA registrationMust be eligible to work in the U.S.Preferred Qualifications: Experience practicing surgical obstetrics beyond fellowshipPatient care experience in an office or community clinicExperience in educating students and residentsAddiction medicine experience or board certificationA demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.Application Instructions: Only applications submitted through the official UNMJobs site will be accepted.
