What you'll do We are seeking a dynamic Cloud Business Operations Director to lead cloud cost management initiatives and optimize cloud spending. In this role, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to monitor, analyze, and forecast cloud usage, ensuring efficient resource allocation and adherence to budgetary goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, a deep understanding of cloud platforms, and the ability to manage cross-functional projects to achieve cost savings.
This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director, Engineering.
ResponsibilitiesMonitor and analyze cloud usage across platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and private cloud environmentsIdentify cost-saving opportunities through Reserved Instances (RIs), Savings Plans, right-sizing, and efficient usage patternsCreate and maintain detailed cost reports and dashboards, providing actionable insights to partnersWork with cloud architects and engineering teams to implement optimization strategiesLead and manage cloud cost optimization initiatives from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budgetCoordinate with cross-functional teams including finance, engineering, and procurement to align project goalsDevelop project plans, timelines, and resource allocations to meet objectivesMonitor and report on project progress, addressing risks and issues as they ariseCollaborate with finance teams and engineering organizations to forecast cloud spend and align with organizational budgetsEstablish and maintain cost allocation models for different business units or teamsSupport the annual operating plan (AOP) by providing accurate cloud cost forecasts and insightsDevelop and enforce cloud cost governance policies, ensuring compliance with financial and operational controlsEstablish tagging and cost allocation best practices to enable better tracking and reporting of cloud costsEducate partners on cloud cost management best practices, promoting cost-conscious culture within the organizationBuild and maintain custom dashboards and reports using cloud-native tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management) or third-party cost management solutionsProvide regular updates to leadership on cloud cost trends, risks, and savings opportunities What you bring BasicBachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., FinOps, PMP, or cloud certifications)12+ years of experience in cloud cost management, financial analysis, or related rolesExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCPExperience with project managementPreferredExperience leading cross-functional initiatives in a cloud environmentExperience with cloud-native tools like AWS Trusted Advisor, Azure Advisor, or third-party cost management platformsFinOps certification or experience with financial operations in a cloud environmentFamiliarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira for project management Wage Transparency Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:
California: $151,800.00 - $245,150.00 base salary
Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $145,800.00 - $214,350.00 base salary
This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
