Description Position Summary
The Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the Company's public cloud infrastructure, primarily on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), while also supporting resources on AWS and Azure.
This role requires a deep understanding of GCP services, cloud architecture, and best practices for building scalable and secure cloud infrastructure.
The successful candidate will work closely with our architecture and development teams to implement, optimize, and manage our multi-cloud environment.
This is an opportunity to play a crucial role in the modernization of our IT infrastructure and to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive our cloud-first strategy forward.
Essential Functions and Duties Infrastructure Design and Implementation: Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure across GCP, AWS, and Azure using Terraform, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability, while optimizing resource management across these platforms.
IaC: Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Deployment Manager, or Ansible to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management.
Version Control and Collaboration: Work with version control systems like GitHub to manage Terraform code, including branching, merging, and pull requests.
CI/CD Integration: Integrate Terraform workflows with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate infrastructure deployment and updates.
Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor the health, performance, and security of cloud infrastructure and optimize resource usage to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Compliance and Security: Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards, including identity and access management (IAM) policies, encryption, and data protection.
Documentation and Training: Document Terraform code and processes and provide training or knowledge sharing sessions to other team members as needed.
Incident Management and Troubleshooting: Respond to infrastructure incidents, troubleshoot issues, and provide solutions in a timely manner.
Roadmap: Evaluate current environments and collaborate with the cloud architecture team and DevOps team to create a roadmap for the adoption of the public cloud.
Could Migration: Identify on-premises workloads/applications and execute the migration to GCP, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest GCP features and services and suggest improvements to optimize cloud infrastructure and reduce costs.
FinOps: Monitor and optimize GCP costs using native tools like Google Cost Management or identify other third-party solutions for additional cost management capabilities.
HA/DR: Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and backup procedures are in place and regularly tested.
Containerization and Orchestration: Strong understanding of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and experience with container orchestration platforms, particularly Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
Mentorship: Mentor and provide guidance to team members, helping them develop their technical skills and understanding of cloud infrastructure best practices.
Team Building: Collaborate effectively with co-workers, internal and external customers, sharing ideas constructively, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and keeping all stakeholders informed of progress, issues, and timelines.
Adheres specifically to all company policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations, and laws.

Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required Education: Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field of study or four (4) years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
Required Knowledge: Solid understanding of cloud computing.
Knowledge of Network Operations.
Terraform.
GCP Projects, shared VPC, VPC Network Peering.
Preferred Knowledge: Ansible.
Monitoring, logging, and cost management tools.
Understanding of data archive/restore policies.
Required Experience: At least ten (10) years' experience [fourteen (14) for non-degreed candidates] in an infrastructure role.
Proven experience as a Terraform Engineer or similar role, with a strong background working with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and principles.
Proven experience migrating applications to GCP.
Experience managing day-to-day infrastructure and operations.
Preferred Experience: Experience in designing scalable, secure cloud infrastructure architecture on GCP.
Experience with Google Cloud Operations Suite.
Google Identity and Access Management.
Google Virtual Private Cloud (VPC).
Google Security Command Center Premium (SCC).
Required Skills: Must have strong organizational skills.
Must have a detail orientation and the proven ability to prioritize work.
Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must have the ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills: Strong presentation and communication skills.
Professional Certification:
GCP Certifications (Associate Cloud Engineer, Professional Cloud Engineer) preferred.
Google Professional Cloud Architect (PCA) preferred.
Google Professional Cloud Network Engineer (PCNE) preferred.
Terraform Certified Associate preferred.
Physical requirements
Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Must have the ability to view a computer screen for prolonged periods and the ability to sit for extended periods.
Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled.
