Description CMA: • Experience in a medical office setting. • Must understand, courteous and professional at all times in contacts with patients, visitors, employees, and medical staff. • Assist Doctor with patients. • Demonstrate knowledge in a medical office. • Anticipate doctor's needs for each patient based upon patient complaints and treatment plan/guidelines. • Verify that patient results, x-rays, labs and procedure reports are in patient charts prior to seeing doctor. • Gather patient's vitals and complaints, document in patient medical record. • Chart accurately and legibly to include lab results. • Facilitate physician and patient communications. • Complete lab requisition forms and assure that specimens are sent to correct labs per patient insurance contract. • Maintain and monitor exam room and procedure room supplies and instruments. • Clean and sterilize instruments in accordance to OSHA Regulations. Clean autoclave as required. • Complete clinical portions of chart preparation. • Schedule surgery and give patient appropriate instructions prior to surgery and refer to Front Office Coordinator or Office Manager for insurance authorization. • Provide backup surgery scheduling. LPN: Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patients age. Demonstrates ability under direct supervision of an RN, to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, geriatric and general patient population. Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management. Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and patient's clinical condition. Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors. Demonstrates ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness. Formulates a teaching plan based on identified patient learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate. Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of an RN. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. RN: Promotes positive public relations for the department and the hospital by presenting self in a professional manner; assisting in community service programs, as requested. Ability to problem solve patient/family issues to a positive conclusion for all involved. Demonstrates communication skills necessary to interact with persons of varying age and/or cultures. Displays a positive attitude at all times. Develops and maintains good relationships with co-workers, other department staff and physicians No disruptions. Practices 5 rights of medication administration. Demonstrates efficient time management skills to maximize productivity. Demonstrates and encourages teamwork. Asks for assistance and information from others when necessary.
