Job Details Job Location Superior - Carrollton, GA Description The CNC Plasma Machine Operator is responsible for performing fabrication operations to produce parts according to customer specifications, blueprints, sketches, sale orders, verbal instructions, and other forms of instructions.
Tasks include setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines by loading parts, entering correct program parameters, cycling the machine, etc.
Troubleshoots and detects malfunctions in machine operations such as worn or damaged tooling, etc.
Communicate with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintain a safe, organized, clean work environment.
He/She/They must be proficient in CNC controls and operation, have mechanical abilities, and be able to read and interpret shop drawings and related programming to produce correct and accurate parts.
The operator must follow all applicable safety procedures to avoid injuries including but not limited to requests for help from co-workers with loads exceeding 40 pounds, proper handling of raw materials, follow all operational instructions when operating or using tools and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Initiates preparations to fabricate parts by obtaining the work order specifications from the file cabinet or the computer station located in the work area.
Specifications may be given by verbal instructions from the immediate supervisor and other forms of instructions. Obtain the necessary materials and hand load them onto the machine, measure, and mark all tangents, and set up the machine, making sure that correct dies, bit, or right cut files for the proper panel are installed, the panel is properly placed, and secured on the table, all vacuums are turned on, enters correct program parameters and cycles machine, to assure that the fabrication job will be completed to meet customer and delivery standards. Operates machines and equipment including but not limited to CNC Tube Bending, CNC Plasma, CNC Two Panel Cutting, and Poly Sheet; and other related tools such as a skill saw, routers, portable band saw, hammers, drills, and impact, measure tape, degree finders and jigs when applicable following specific operational and safety instructions. Fabricates parts by performing sawing, cutting, bending, forming, notching, and other related metal forming tasks following sales orders, blueprints, sketches, verbal instructions, and other forms of instructions to meet customer specifications. Troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes Examines his/her work including, visually inspecting the first and last piece produced, taking measurements to fabricated parts for accuracy in dimensions, and identifying cosmetic and surface defects, aided with the use of hand tools and measuring devices such as measuring tape, degree finders, and gigs when applicable to meet work order or drawing specifications. Verbally communicates to the maintenance technician any machinery and equipment functional problems and notifies the supervisor of any quality or production issues detected.
Maintains and updates the daily production log, downtime sheet, scrap recording sheet, and production reports. Implements and maintains 5'S practices in his/her/their work area including in equipment according to company procedures. May be designated according to the product fabrication requirements as CNC Tube Bending Operator, CNC Plasma Operator, CNC Two Panel Operator, or other designations as per company operation requirements. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor. Qualifications Education and/or Experience High school diploma or graduation from a certified technical school is greatly preferred. Minimum two (2) years of related experience in manufacturing. Work Environment and Physical Requirements This position is based in a plant environment where proper PPE will be required while performing tasks and duties.
The position requires walking and standing for prolonged periods.
As part of the regular duties of the job, this position requires the use of hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
This position regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds to shoulder height and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
