Job Description Lead CNC Programmer Location: Crystal Lake, Illinois, United States (On-site)
A successful and growing supplier to the automotive climate control industry is seeking a Lead CNC Programmer with a strong machining background to join their engineering team.
This position will also include supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities: Perform CAD design and drafting of fixtures, gauges, and custom cutting tools.
Assist in the fabrication of fixtures and gauges when necessary.
Create and maintain document control according to company procedures, including fixture and cutting tool drawings, gauge drawings, and tool room fixture programs.
Assist in the diagnosis of production problems related to fixture, gauge, and tool design.
Analyze and improve tool room production processes.
Assist in cross-checking extrusion, fixture, tool, and gauge designs.
Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving teams (e.g., FMEA, corrective action).
Responsible for new product CNC programming or optimizing current production processes.
Write and optimize CNC programs to produce complex parts on three- and four-axis machining centers.
Perform initial setup to ensure compliance with quoted tooling and machining requirements.
Provide input during the development of work-holding fixtures and assist with the selection of cutting tools.
Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in CNC programming and setup.
Supervisory experience required.
Proficiency in Mastercam and Inventor.
Ability to travel internationally as needed.
Strong understanding of G and M codes.
Some college education or industry certifications are a plus.
Experience with Brother VMCs is a plus.
Knowledge of fixture designs required.
Familiarity with blueprint reading and GD&T.
