Coalitions Communications Advisor

The Coalitions Communications Advisor works with the Communications team to craft and execute a proactive, culturally competent engagement strategy for Spanish-language Latino, Asian American and Pacific Islander, Black, Native American, and LGBTQ+ media. This role will oversee the DNC's efforts to communicate Democrats' agenda to these communities and hold Republicans accountable, including pitching and shaping coverage, identifying opportunities to amplify the DNC's work, and managing a team. Responsibilities:Work closely with the Communications team to develop and execute proactive coalitions media outreach strategies and paid media plans;Build and maintain ongoing relationships with coalitions media outlets and reporters, helping to pitch and shape coverageWork in coordination with other members of the communications team to identify and book surrogates and validators for TV, radio, and print interviewsCarry out special projects, rollouts, and message events;Identify creative opportunities to amplify the DNC's work and achieve the DNC's messaging goals;Help manage the distribution and quality of written materials every day, from drafting to delivery;Assist in planning press events in coordination with the Political and Coalitions teams;Monitor breaking news and identify opportunities to advance the DNC's message goals;Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.Qualifications:Dedication to core Democratic values;At least 5-7 years or 3 cycles of related experience in press;Prior experience working with different types of constituency media;Excellent writing and research skills;Enjoys working with and managing a team;Proven interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to build strong relationships with staff members at all levels; andCultural competency and a commitment to promoting cross-cultural skills and awareness.The starting salary for the Coalitions Communications Advisor position is $120,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends, and has an end date of November 15, 2024. Benefits:
