This is the third level in a three-level Code Compliance classification series devoted to performing inspections and enforcement action directly related to the City's zoning and property maintenance codes and serving as a working supervisor over Code Compliance Officer(s).

Essential Functions ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following is intended to describe the core work functions of this classification.
While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the City's needs.
Supervises, trains, and develops staff; approves timecards and time-off requests.
Performs research to respond to and resolve escalated customer complaints.
Plans an inspection route and drives to various locations around the city.
Inspects existing structures and land to identify zoning and property maintenance code violations.
Coordinates case management of staff and performs case management on own assignments.
Prepares and processes time-sensitive documents, including preparing written notices of violations, liens, pay-off letters, and lien releases.
Enters data into databases and maintains records.
Performs research on property, owner, and tenant information.
Testifies in court.
Provides education and information to the public regarding municipal property maintenance and zoning requirements.
Removes signs that have been illegally placed in the city's right-of-way.
Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Associate's degree in a related field and 3 years of progressively responsible code or law enforcement experience involving sensitive public contact or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.
Certifications/Licenses: State of Arizona Class D Driver's License.
Must obtain a Zoning Enforcement Officer or Code Enforcement League of Arizona (CELA) Certification within one year of hire.
Safety Sensitive Assignment(s): Code Compliance Supervisor.
CONTINUING EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS Maintain all certifications/licenses required at job entry and within a specified timeframe.
