One of the area's leaders in heavy civil construction is seeking a Project Manager to be part of their dynamic management team. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated with a solid work ethic. This position requires someone who is dependable, enjoys challenging projects, and possesses a desire to be a part of a successful construction team. Experience managing heavy civil/highway construction projects is a must. This could include paving, grading, earthwork, excavation, bridgework, marine construction, wet/dry utilities etc.
Responsibilities:
* Plan and formulate civil construction projects according to project requirements and engineering standards
* Effectively manage project budget and ensure the project meets projected/required margins, submit accurate and timely cost and income projections for the project, and appropriately act on changes in project margins and budget variances to ensure project profitability
* Create project schedules and update on a regular basis with a realistic timetable for future work items
* Establish overall project quality control, including review of project designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and similar specifications
* Ensure all site operations adhere to Company and site safety policies and protocols, Incident and Injury Free protocols are followed, and behaviors and culture are instilled at all levels on the project
* Conduct and maintain all project-related documentation and correspondence. Prepare analytical reports for presentation to upper management
* Collaborate with field management to ensure successful resolution of issues between the project plan and site execution on an ongoing basis
* Approve all equipment or personnel changes and requisitions prepared and submitted by superintendents
* Demonstrate understanding of when to elevate issues and/or communicate to upper management
* Plan for and organize project staff according to project requirements, including assigning proper personnel to specific projects or components of projects
* Ensure and communicate clear roles and responsibilities to the entire project team
* Manage weekly meetings with the project team (to include scheduling and costing review)
* Manage and document ongoing financial projections of project performance throughout the project life
* Submit accurate and timely payment requisitions
* Exhibit a thorough understanding of contract terms and specifications
* Display a thorough understanding of the project schedule, key project milestones, and reasons for delays.
* Oversee the issuance of subcontracts and supplier purchase orders and ensure the appropriate performance management of subcontractors
Education and Experience
* Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and/or equivalent work experience
* 5+ years on civil heavy/highway projects is required . This could include paving, earthwork, excavation, bridgework, marine construction, wet/dry utilities etc.
* Knowledge of leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
* Knowledge of construction related software a plus
