About Redwood Materials Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We're doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.
Infrastructure Commissioning Manager We are currently seeking an Infrastructure Commissioning Manager to join our Engineering, Procurement, & Construction (EPC) team. This EPC role is at the center of Redwood's mission focused on creating a sustainable circular economy for lithium-ion batteries by transforming recycled materials into battery materials for new lithium-ion battery production.
The Commissioning Manager will work closely with members of the project management, infrastructure engineering, project controls and procurement departments from preconstruction through completion and start of production. The Commissioning Manager will manage all on-site infrastructure commissioning scopes including electrical, mechanical, controls, fire systems, etc. These responsibilities around commissioning will include scheduling of trade contractors, utility, structure, and vendor tool installations, resolving day to day commissioning challenges, performing day to day inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specifications while tracking project and commissioning schedule. The Commissioning Manager will also be responsible for coordinating testing and commissioning among all project stakeholders both internal to Redwood (facilities, operations, maintenance, infrastructure & process engineering) and external (trade subcontractors & vendors/suppliers). The Commissioning Manager is also responsible for helping grow and administer a commissioning program for the EPC group. Commissioning experience with large manufacturing, refining, wastewater/water treatment, and/or large MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems is preferred.
Responsibilities will include: Lead development of commissioning program elements to standardize the execution of Redwood project commissioning and ensure delivery of high-quality infrastructure to the end users. E.g. Cx execution plan, systemization strategy, commissioning logic sequences, standards for cleaning and inspections, first fills/lubrication schedules, mobilization and staffing plan, checklists, commissioning procedures, etc. Manages all aspects of the EPC commissioning program, including commissioning agents, stakeholder coordination, and successful start-up and turnover of systems and project equipment to end users. Participates in design reviews to assess and comment on aspects of systems for commissioning. E.g. valve/shunt placement for staged startup and flushing operations. Manages the chosen completions management system to organize and effectively track completion of all project equipment and systems. Develops and manages the commissioning schedule, budget, stakeholder coordination, commissioning agents, and other resources needed to commission project equipment & systems. Assesses initial project contract and supporting documents for completeness. Works with designers and subcontractors to resolve specification, contract conflict and scheduling issues as they relate to commissioning. Coordinates and executes Factory Acceptance Testing for packaged equipment to ensure it meets design intent prior to shipping from vendors. Provides input to the project equipment preservation plan. Performs additional assignments per management's direction. Maintains working relationships with different Redwood infrastructure, process, facility, and design teams to support the project schedule, execution, and commissioning. Operates as main point of contact for all commissioning stakeholders. Ensures project safety reviews and procedures are followed by conducting weekly safety checks and engaging in safety meetings and monthly review meetings with EHS safety support. Supports the safety programs of the project and Redwood. Helps coordinate staffing and equipment needs for efficient and effective project commissioning. Participates in commissioning dispute resolution process with support from Redwood leadership. Leads project closeout procedures, finalizing contract paperwork, and working with management to resolve any disputes. Leads project debrief cycle to review all aspects of project work and completion. Maintains knowledge of Company's values and strategic plan. Desired Qualifications: 10+ years' experience in large scale commissioning management required. 5+ years' experience in managing personnel required. Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field a plus. Experience managing a team of commissioning agents. Valid Driver's License Strong interpersonal skills developed to engage and retain positive working relationships. Strong developed skill to identify, track and manage project risk. Experience working with CxAlloy completions management system. Developing ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple departments and direct reports to retain focus on one project completion goal and timeline. Ability to identify growth opportunities for project personnel and developed to coach and mentor project personnel. Developing ability to delegate task driven responsibilities to project personnel. Advanced knowledge of Procore and MS Office, including advanced skill working in Excel. Knowledge of and ability to navigate Primavera P6 scheduling software. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, technical equipment specifications, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or request for changes/claims from subcontractors, management, co-workers, or regulatory agencies. Ability to effectively present information to executive management and/or public groups. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and write an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
