ORGANIZATION SUMMARY World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world's greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.
Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability. World Relief Quad Cities seeks a Communications Specialist to support the Community Engagement team. The position will create engaging content to communicate the mission and vision of World Relief Quad Cities and its programs to local churches, organizations, partners, volunteers, community members, donors, news outlets, and more.
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until 9/30/25 and contingent upon funding extension.
\n ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:---Collect assets to use in content creation, marketing, and all external and internal communications: Record day-to-day work via photos and videos as a basis for content creation Conduct interviews with relevant parties to gather information, quotes, and testimonials Ensure consent releases are signed by required parties wherever necessary ---Create and distribute content to engage the World Relief Quad Cities Audience: Create social media content, including graphics, images, and videos, and schedule on a variety of platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.). Craft and send a monthly newsletter to share updates, needs, stories, photos, and more with the office's email audience Write compelling blogs to include in the monthly newsletter based on holidays or other monthly themes ---Plan and facilitate marketing campaigns: Work with the World Relief home office to plan and distribute digital advocacy resources, responses to major world events, calls to action, and fundraising campaigns Facilitate local marketing campaigns for annual fundraising events in partnership with World Relief Quad Cities' event planning committees Create marketing materials for campaigns, including automation emails, Save the Dates, invitations, advertising, flyers, and social content ---Provide internal communications support for the World Relief Quad Cities team: Collaborate with other WRQC departments to communicate departmental needs to the organization's audience Create internal organization materials such as business cards, flyers, organization charts, and presentations Provide administrative support to the Community Engagement team --- Maintain external communications and public relations: Represent World Relief and its work in communication with external partners and local media outlets, including keeping the QC Chamber Account up to date Attend and/or table at community events to conduct outreach and grow local awareness Ensure the office's website, HubSpot account, and subscriber lists stay up to date Other responsibilities as needed to further communications goals and support the mission of World Relief Quad Cities. JOB REQUIREMENTS:Mature and personal Christian faithCommitted to the mission, vision, and values of World ReliefDesire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communitiesAble to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation documentMust have a valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation and ability to travel to meetings or events Undergraduate degree or combination of related education and experience Ability to manage and prioritize competing tasks to meet multiple, simultaneous deadlines Cross-cultural understanding and sensitivity; commitment to telling stories that empower and invite stakeholder participation and maintain confidentiality Ability to work well on a team in a synergistic work environment, a flexible and motivated team player Strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Willing to accurately represent World Relief and engage in interviews with local news outlets when necessary. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience with communications and marketing tools, such as social media platforms, photo and video editing platforms, WordPress, Canva, Adobe, HubSpot, etc.
\n$20 - $22 an hour
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
