The City of Sunnyside is currently accepting applications for the position of Community & Economic Development (CED) Director. This position is responsible for supervising the areas of planning, building services, economic development services, and code compliance. The CED Director will serve in an advisor capacity to the City Council, Planning Commission, and Community & Economic Development Commission in their duties to facilitate public involvement in a broad range of community service and development activities.

Essential Job Functions
Directs and performs research and analysis to prepare planning reports; makes recommendations and assists in the development and presentation of new municipal planning policies, plans, and ordinances.
Participates with regional and state planning and economic development agencies in developing regional policies affecting Sunnyside's community development priorities.
Oversees mapping and data acquisition activities to ensure continuing progress.
Prepares and monitors department operating budget.
Responsible for the planning, design, implementation, and management of Economic Development programs and initiatives; business analysis; commercial and industrial real estate analysis; policy development; community planning and process facilitation.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Urban Studies, Economics, or closely related field.
Certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners.
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in a municipal planning-related field.
Knowledge of trends in local government planning, zoning, code enforcement, economic development, and related matters.
Thorough knowledge of municipal government structure, operation and jurisdiction, and City department rules, regulations, and policies.
