WHO WE ARE Planned Parenthood Association of Utah (PPAU) is a non-profit family planning agency and a leader in sexual and reproductive healthcare, advocacy, and education in the state of Utah. We provide high-quality, affordable sexual and reproductive health care for Utahns/people in eight health centers across the state. At PPAU, care is much more than the health, education, and advocacy services we provide; it's the way we approach our world with compassion and a constant desire to improve. We care with kindness, respect, and are passionate about helping adults and teens of all genders, sexual orientations, races, religions, ethnicities, abilities, and cultural backgrounds lead healthy lives.  Position Summary: Promotes healthy human sexuality through outreach and by providing people with the tools, knowledge, and/or skills they need to make healthy and responsible decisions concerning their sexual and reproductive health.  Expands agency involvement and promotes agency resources with schools and community groups statewide.  Provides training for professionals and adults interested in teaching about sexuality.  Evaluates and advocates for appropriate sex education in public schools and trains parents to be the primary sexuality educator of their children.

\n About the job:Provides PPAU educational/informative presentations, curriculums, and training to elementary, secondary, and college groups as well as other community groups and professionals on issues related to reproductive health, human sexuality, and promoting healthy sexuality, and as required by Title X.Trains teachers, school support staff, nurses, parents, volunteers, interns, clinic staff, teen leaders, and other facilitators in presenting Planned Parenthood based school curricula and other programs related to reproductive health and human sexuality.Cultivates and responds to requests for educational materials and school-based curricula using existing PPAU/PPFA networks and research data, among other sources.Leads recruitment and retention of program participants for year-long youth programs.Provides and analyzes data for program evaluation, maintains up-to-date records and data in education specific database.Assesses and researches education/training needs in order to develop new programs, materials and training activities related to reproductive health and human sexuality.Expands, develops, coordinates and maintains agency educational programs/clients and provides assistance to educators, volunteers and other trainers in developing and presenting programs.Expands educational programs to school-based and community groups by coordinating and training clinical assistant staff, volunteers, interns, and other educators.Develops, organizes and conducts staff education/training and provides material to expand agency reproductive health training outreach to community.Tracks and completes records, reports and documentation of all training in accordance with Title X programs and other grants and funding sources.Creates, updates or prepares reports, database(s), brochures, news releases, etc., which promote agency programs and education.  Assures educational materials comply with PPFA, Title V and Title X requirements.Solicits evaluations and feedback to improve performance and training of clinical staff and volunteer educators.Along with Director, serves as PPAU resource on state law and policies regarding delivery of education and training of sexuality, maturation, and healthy lifestyles promotion.Maintains professional knowledge by attending workshops, training, meetings, and other professional/community events.  Represents agency goals and mission in the schools and the community.In conjunction with Director, researches, collects, analyzes and reviews training tends, statistical data, and reports for improving school/community education resources; monitors training methods to ensure resources are current, effective, and available to staff and community members in a timely and cost effective manner.Demonstrated ability to provide education and training in both large and small group settings.Experience with grant funded projects or cultivation of education programming sources and projects desirable.Ability to adjust communication and presentations based on situation/audience, as appropriate.Must be adaptable to changing situations, schedules and in-state and out-of-state travel.Supports and participates in agency marketing, public affairs, fund-raising and community activities through outreach and networking.Maintains open lines of communication.Addresses problems positively and listens non-defensively.Represents PPAU in a professional and positive manner when dealing with clients, the public, volunteers, interns/externs, donors and other staff, demonstrating a commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service.Participates with team members in identifying and improving systems, activities, behaviors, resolving issues, etc. which result in improving quality services.  Maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA and to PPAU policy.Attend and participate in all required meetings and training sessions.Participates in annual team review process.Understands their responsibility and participates in assuring productivity levels are maintained.Demonstrates respect for diversity in daily activities.Meet Agency standards for performance measures and attendance/punctuality.Performs other duties as required or requested. Community EducatorWork is performed in an office and class room settingWilling to work evenings and weekends, as needed.Meet with external group(s) as needed.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. What we're looking for:Bachelors degree in elementary or secondary education, health education or related field; AND2+ years experience working with diverse populations and local community groups; AND2+ years relevant teaching experience in a classroom or community education setting; OR 2 years college plus 2 – 4 years relevant teaching experience in a classroom or community education setting; OR high school diploma (or G.E.D) plus 4 – 7 years of relevant experience.Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.Must have previous experience providing LGBTQ inclusive education.Yearly influenza vaccination required unless seeking a medical or religious exemption.
