Questions before applying? ******** Role: The role of the Community Health Representative (CHR) is to provide safe transportation to health center patients to medical appointments and other locations that are necessary for the patient's health and wellbeing. The CHR provides services to community members who have special needs due to physical handicaps, temporary incapacity, or chronic conditions. The CHR prioritizes client services based on medical need focusing on higher intensity patients (oncology, dialysis, or mobility challenges).
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all minimum requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Minimum Requirements: Driving: Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable with the Nation's insurance. Experience: Minimum: Six months to two years related experience. Experience driving a handicap accessible van or bus. Preferred: 2 years of experience working in a transportation position with federal or state transportation regulations (DOT/FTA). Education: Minimum: High School diploma/GED and CNA/CMA Certificate or 2 years of work experience transporting medically assisted clients. Must have a current BCLS certification or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire. Must be willing to obtain a Kansas state defensive driving certificate within one year of hire. Preferred: Associate degree in a health-care related area. Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the PBPN for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation. Knowledge: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing professional customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Knowledge of safe patient movement/handling concepts. Knowledge of medical devices and prosthetics such as canes, crutches, wheelchairs, handicap lifts, etc. Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques in relation to infection control concepts. Skills: Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Service Orientation: Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to help others. Instructing: Teaching others how to do something. Speaking: Talking to others to convey information effectively. Time Management: Managing one's own time and the time of others. Writing: Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Abilities: Ability to come up with a number of ideas about a topic (the number of ideas is important, not their quality, correctness, or creativity). Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Ability to shift back and forth between two or more activities or sources of information (such as speech, sounds, touch, or other sources).
