Job Description: Community Resource Closet Position Overview
The Community Resource Closet Volunteer plays a vital role in supporting families and individuals by providing access to essential items such as clothing, shoes, diapers, hygiene products, and non-perishable foods. This position involves assisting clients, sorting donations, organizing inventory, and ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all who visit the resource closet.
Key Responsibilities: Client AssistanceWelcome and sign in clients as they arrive, ensuring a smooth and respectful process.Assist families and individuals in selecting items from the closet, providing guidance and support as needed. Donation Management: Sort through donated items, categorizing clothing, shoes, and other items for easy access and distribution. Ensure all donations are in good condition and appropriate for distribution. Closet Organization: Organize and maintain the cleanliness of the resource closet, ensuring items are neatly displayed and accessible.Stock shelves with diapers, hygiene products, and non-perishable foods, maintaining an orderly and efficient system. Inventory Management: Keep track of inventory levels for all items in the closet. Notify supervisors when supplies are running low or when there is a need for specific items. Environment Maintenance: Ensure the resource closet remains a clean, safe, and caring environment for clients. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to protect both volunteers and clients. Skills and Qualifications Compassion and PatienceDemonstrate empathy and understanding towards clients, treating them with dignity and respect. Organizational Skills: Ability to sort and organize donations efficiently. Strong attention to detail in maintaining inventory and the overall appearance of the closet. Effective verbal communication to assist and guide clients.Ability to work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff members.Ability to lift and move no more than 15/20 (Ibs) donations and supplies as needed.Commitment to the scheduled volunteer hours and reliability in attendance. Monday: 10am - 2pm • Wednesday: 10am - 2pm • Friday: 12pm-4pm
