Job Description

AHRC NYC is seeking a Community School Director to support the Community School effort at M751 in MANHATTAN.
Community Schools is an equity strategy promoted by the New York City Department of Education to organize resources and share leadership so that academics, health, youth development, and family empowerment are integrated into the fabric of schools to support the whole child.
Through collaborative planning, strategic resource allocation, and community-based partnerships, schools can offer equitable opportunities to help students navigate barriers so that they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
AHRC NYC is a Community School partner to M751 MANHATTAN School for Career Development.


LOCATION: 113 East 4th Street in Manhattan SALARY: $70-$80k.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Community School Director will have the following responsibilities:

§ Relationship Building: Build collaborative relationships with school, community, and a diverse group of stakeholders

o Manage the ongoing development and coordination of services between the school and AHRC NYC

o Serve as a primary liaison between school staff, students, teachers, families, community members, and service providers

o Hold standing check-in meetings to review progress, challenges, and new initiatives

o Engage community in partnership to support student achievement and align resources

§ Results Based Leadership: Move groups from talk to action and maintain accountability toward goals

o Manage a team of Community School support staff including after-school program staff, Social Work teams, and other AHRC NYC staff

o Work collaboratively with DOE staff, including the school principal, to meet the Community School goals

o Lead the community engagement process and become a family liaison

o Inform all stakeholders of short and long-term challenges and successes

o Align community partners on school's vision and strategy

§ Project Management: Develop well-designed action plans; manage budgets effectively; delegate strategically and communicate clearly

o Coordinate in-service programs to ensure appropriate expertise in meeting student needs

o Participate in identifying resources and linkages in the community for students, families and staff

o Bridge the gaps for students and families in the transitioning process from high school to the adult work world

o Put into action ideas generated by the Community School team to move the student body forward

o Manage the Community School budget

§ Data Driven Decision Making: Identify and integrate key data sources; share data with stakeholders and ensure students receive support

o Collect meaningful data to track program success

o Assist with the evaluation of program and student performance

o Evaluate and monitor the service delivery of goals and objective as set forth by the Community School Team

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred

•Minimum of 5 years work experience with students with disabilities

•Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred

•Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

•Experience with inclusive education models

•Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once

•Experience managing a project budget

•Solid organizational and multi-tasking skills, and proven ability to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations

•Clearance of all background checks and fingerprints
