DEFINITION Come join the of the Community Services Department at the City of Redondo Beach as our next Transit Analyst! The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, budgeting, and grant administration, supporting the Transit Division's complex projects and reporting requirements.
They will excel in researching, analyzing, and auditing data to provide detailed financial and operational reports, offering recommendations to optimize program costs and improve efficiency.
Strong project management and problem-solving skills will be essential, along with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
This candidate will thrive in a collaborative, dynamic environment, supporting the City's mission with professionalism and integrity.
Position Definition: Under the direction of the Department Director and as a member of the supervisory team, performs management duties, research, statistical and analytical work, and professional administrative support in budget, grants, special events and other areas as assigned.
Performs work under general instructions, but within established policies and procedures; performs related duties as required to achieve successful results in support of the City's mission, goals, policies and objectives.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS
This position is accountable as a team member to perform administrative and support duties and services including but not limited to: Plans, coordinates and performs administrative assignments and special projects; works as a team member in a dynamic environment.
Performs analytic research and exercises sound decision making skills and critical thinking to solve complex community problems; provides completed staff work with professional recommendations.
Researches, analyzes, evaluates and audits information; prepares specialized documents including analytical reports, manuals, and legislative analysis.
Recommends and implements improvements to policies and procedures; ensures accuracy, completeness and compliance with City standards, policies and procedures.
Supervises in the preparation of budgets and administration of grants; provides financial analysis of revenues, expenditures, and reimbursements; makes recommendations to improve program costs and benefits; revises and develops fees.
Communicates clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with the public and fellow employees; prepares well written reports and makes effective presentations.
Must be available for call-back and automatic return to work with a reasonable response time during off-duty hours for major emergencies, disasters, critical incidents and as otherwise required.
Delivers outstanding internal and external customer service; communicates effectively orally and in writing with the public and fellow employees; solves problems and supports the City's mission, policies, goals, and objectives.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and works cooperatively with co-workers, other members of the supervisory/ management team, City staff, other agencies and the community.
Exercises tact, self-restraint and good judgment; takes initiative to achieve positive, timely results for the organization with diplomatic skills and ethical conduct; conducts duties, responsibilities, tasks and assignments with a constructive, cooperative, positive, and professional attitude and demeanor.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
CLASSIFICATION:The position is exempt under the laws of Fair Labor Standards Act minimum wage and overtime provisions.
The classification is included in the City's Civil Service System.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS THIS POSITION REQUIRES:Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
The position requires knowledge of analytical practices, techniques and methods to accomplish the City's goals and objectives by combining the appropriate people, resources, process and time to achieve results.
The position requires the professional ability to analyze, innovate and solve complex municipal problems with initiative working as a team member in a dynamic environment.
The position requires computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to communicate using email programs; and, understanding and adherence to City policies for information technology.
The position's expected competencies are sound decision-making skills; critical thinking ability; problem solving and innovation skills; drive for results; analytic skills; interpersonal, customer service and diplomatic skills; ethical conduct; proven top performances.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO APPLY: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration or a related field.
A master's degree in a relevant field is desirable.
At least two years of increasingly responsible experience in government or a comparable business or non - profit organization is required.
Skills and experience working with people, finance, budgets, contract administration, goal setting, technology, legislative affairs, communications and public relations, and human resources are desirable.
The position requires meeting the physical employment standards for the classification.
