The Compliance Assistant supports the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services privacy and security needs, specifically in healthcare, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), and other associated privacy and security regulations.
The Compliance Assistant will report to the SCCE Compliance Officer.
Job Responsibilities Collaborates with Compliance team members on various projects, audits, etc. that require compliance review, insight, and direction. Provides administrative support to ensure smooth operations. Coordinates Physical access to the SCCE building. Assists with on and off-boarding workforce members, including coordinating access to training and software systems. Maintains records of training completed by workforce members within CEHS health care components. Authorizes, coordinates, and documents credentialing and de-credentialing of the workforce into ePHI systems. Maintains records of access to ePHI systems and physical access to HIPAA clinic areas within the health care components. Participates in work projects and committees applicable to compliance. Completes annual key inventory. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 1-2 years in healthcare compliance or admin support position. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite for tracking, preparing reports, spreadsheets, generating statistics, and email. Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with relevant legislation and standards for protecting health information and patient privacy. Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration and/or a nationally recognized privacy certification (e.g., CHPC, CHPS, CIPP). Experience working in human service clinical operations. Previous experience with electronic medical records software. Experience working with university faculty and staff. Familiarity with clinic offerings within USU's SCCE. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to positively interact with colleagues (faculty, staff, students, etc.) Self-starter with strong organizational skills. Strong documenting and reporting skills. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a rapidly changing environment. Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information. Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
