The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves. The Compliance and Risk Manager serves as a subject matter expert and organizational leader in the areas of health care compliance and risk management and health information management, working in close collaboration with leaders from across the organization to ensure alignment of services with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

Essential Job Functions Develops and implements a comprehensive compliance and risk management program that includes policies, procedures, and training. As the organization's designated HIPAA Privacy Officer, responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Protected Health Information (PHI).Supports the HRSA Health Center Program and Federal Torts Claims Act (FTCA) compliance and risk management activities by performing regular risk assessments to identify potential risks to the organization and develop strategies to mitigate those risks. Serves as Chair of the Compliance and Risk Management Sub-committee managing the Sub-committee's monthly meeting agenda and ensuring activities of the Sub-committee are appropriately reported to leadership and the Quality Management Oversight Committee. Collaborates with legal counsel, credentialing and privileging staff, and other QI&A team members to complete the organization's annual FTCA Re-Deeming Application. Oversees the daily functions of the medical records department to include processing release of information requests and document management in the organization's electronic health record system.  Supervises Medical Records Specialist staff, including hiring, scheduling, assigning work, and reviewing performance. In collaboration with Technology Services, functions as the primary administrator of the organization's incident reporting system, providing training on the use of the system for both reporting and follow-up.   Ensures that all reported events receive appropriate follow-up action and documentation and that all internal and external stakeholders are made aware of events as required.Travels to other site locations within Colorado as needed. Qualifications Summary Bachelor's degree in health care administration, public health, nursing, or a related field preferred. Experience may substitute for education. Certification in health care compliance, risk management, or health information management preferred. Previous experience in health care compliance, risk management, or health information management required. General knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and industry best practices required. Previous experience supervising staff strongly preferred. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to communicate effectively with others.Must be able to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment and use resources wisely.Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.Ability to identify and assess risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.Must be able to remain calm, think clearly, and apply sound judgement in high-pressure situations. Department Overview & Requirements In this role, you will work cross-collaboratively within the Quality Improvement & Assurance (QI&A) Department to support risk management, compliance, HIPAA privacy, quality assurance, evaluation, and health management operations through the entire organization.  You will help foster a new understanding of these areas while developing approaches to improve efficiencies and reduce vulnerabilities.
