Description
The scope of the work for this mechanical position at the Blue Lake facility in Shakopee, MN, involves the installation and commissioning of three Wartsila fuel engine generators.Additionally, the project includes the installation of the mechanical systems that support these generators.Installing new fuel oil tanks to support the generators, implementing modifications and upgrades to the existing plant systems, and installing and working with mechanical systems such as fuel oil piping, fuel gas piping, compressed air, fire protection systems, and general HVAC systems.The person in this role should have familiarity with these systems to ensure the successful completion of the project.A typical day for this role starts with a safety kickoff and planning/scheduling meetings.The workday consists of a mix of field and office tasks.In the field, the individual will perform observation work to ensure the project progresses smoothly.In the office, they will focus on documentation, scheduling, computer tasks, and coordination activities.Working with Warsilla contractors and subcontractors performing the work, engineering teams and construction managersResponsible for inspecting and ensuring that all work is performed according to specifications and standards.Overseeing the work and ensuring compliance without directly performing or directing the tasks.
Qualifications:
Previous knowledge of PDF viewers/editorsMS office suite.Team player mentality.Mechanical Experience (5-7 years): must have significant experience in mechanical systems, particularly in roles like steamfitter, boilermaker, or similar, with a strong understanding of piping specs, installation, and codes.Piping and Mechanical Systems: extensive knowledge of piping systems and installation, including familiarity with mechanical systems, installation specs, and governing codes and regulations, is crucial.Supervisory/Leadership Experience: must have 5-7 years of onsite leadership experience at a foreman level or higher, such as a superintendent, in fuel/gas or similar mechanical systems environments.Inspection and Compliance Skills: Since the role involves inspection rather than direct work performance, should have a keen eye for detail to verify that installations meet all specs, codes, and safety regulations.Problem-Solving and Communication: ability to effectively communicate with teams and provide guidance on compliance issues while addressing problems that arise during the installation and commissioning process.Strong communication with a team player mentality/attitude.Someone who can work/thrive in a team environment and is highly collaborative.Ability to read, write and comprehend.Mechanical work with any of the major contractors in the Twin Cities; Pioneer Power, former XE experienceStrong chemical or refinery background would be an ideal
