Overview
A survey/data technician is a professional who takes measurements and documents features of the land and/or work activities around a construction site. The majority of the work takes place outdoors. Coordinates and completes all aspects of assigned field and office duties regarding the collection and providing of survey or other data to the best possible accuracy. Almost all of the work will be conducted on project sites, most in Polk and Hillsborough County, FL
Responsibilities
While the priority for this Position is Surveying, it will not occupy a full week. In between Survey duties, this person will be expected to fill in as a general data collector. Other potential tasks if needed, operation of Off Road Truck Driver, Compactor, or provide general assistance and manual labor at the Project Supervisors direction.
Participates daily in the Moretrench STARTT and STOP safety programUses proper safety equipment and follows proper field safety procedures. The Survey Technician is responsible for the safety of the crew, vehicles, and equipment, and the public's interestCompletes assigned tasks safely while complying with established field procedures; ensures that the field survey data is in the proper format; takes photos or makes sketches of monuments, structures, topography, trees, etc., to assist office personnel and drafting technicians visualize conditionsKeeps clear and accurate field notes by recording all significant data, personnel, date, weather, job name and number, instrument used, client/neighbor/consultant contact and requests, instrument, and backsight setup, etcPerforms sufficient checks in the field to assure previously set control monuments are undisturbed within positional toleranceDownload data collected electronically to the proper job and file. Assist in reducing data to usable format. Complete log file for projectEnsures all equipment used is maintained, clean and in good working order. Equipment to include vehicles, data collectors, heavy equipment, etc… Performs all other assigned dutiesProduces field data using Trimble Business Center, Propeller or similar software
Qualifications
Experience as a Survey Tech is not requiredTraining for Entry Level will be providedGood math, geometry, and computer skills are necessary
Additional Information
Salary Range: $18.00 - $33.00 / hr
Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including relevant internal and external experience, knowledge, skills, scope of job, geographical location or other factors permitted by law
