Summary
We are currently seeking a Construction Technician to join our Water business line in New Lenox, Illinois.
In this position, you will be responsible for the efficient management, execution, and quality assurance of Water Construction projects.
A Construction Technician evaluates in-place work elements, materials, design details and project related conditions to advise our client on the recommended course of action to successfully complete projects.
Each assignment demands the application of your independent judgment, establishing you as a recognized subject matter expert in the functional areas of your projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Understands and interprets local, state, and/or federal Standard Specifications and Procedures.
Answers questions from the contractor and exercises independent judgment when making decisions to apply standards or modify construction plans to fit actual field conditions.
Utilizes subject matter expertise to identify the root cause of construction defects caused by design flaws, material installation, or site conditions and develops possible solutions.
Provides counsel to the client and key stakeholders regarding new approaches and to address problems, materials and methods that could contribute to a better project outcome, speed up the construction schedule, mitigate potential future risk, contribute to a safer jobsite, or save money.Leads meetings with the client and contractor to make recommendations and resolve challenges related to the project schedule, plan changes, and additional costs.
Mediates project related matters with the contractor on behalf of the client.Responsible for the financial stewardship of the client by interpreting quality control checks, assisting in the development of the pay estimate, quantifying pay items on projects and settling accounting disputes with the contractor on behalf of our client.
Observes and documents the contractor's work to record that it is being completed in conformance with the plans and specifications, contract documents, and applicable local, state, and/or federal regulatory requirements.
Education and Experience At least 2 years of related Construction observation experience working in and around drinking water and sanitary sewer facilities (water treatment plants, water wells, water storage tanks, water booster pump stations, sanitary sewer collection systems, wastewater treatment plants and lift stations).Familiarity with documentation requirements and inspection procedures is preferred.Excellent time management, communication, and technical skills are required.
Must be familiar with equipment commonly used in the generation of engineering-related tests and analysis.Must possess knowledge of MS Office suite of products.Basic proficiency in Bluebeam is preferred.Requires regular travel to and from remote worksites. Certificates and Licenses Must be willing to obtain or possess OSHA 40-hour, Confined Space Training certifications and NASSCO Inspector Training.The employee must be capable of driving/operating a motor vehicle for company business and maintain a valid driver's license in the state of residence. Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, snow, rain) for extended periods of time and stand for 8 to 12 hours per day.
This work requires standing on uneven terrain.
Employees must also be able to lift and move a minimum of 30 lbs.
(concrete cylinders), sit, walk, talk, hear, and reach with hands or arms.
Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and other office equipment as required.
The employee is also required to kneel, crouch, and bend.
