Job Title: Construction Utility Estimator
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Construction Utility Estimator with a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction utility projects.
Ideal candidates will have experience in earthwork estimating and be proficient in Bid2Win or HeavyBid and Bluebeam.
Experience with municipality specifications, storm, sanitary, sewer, and maintenance services is essential.
As a Construction Utility Estimator, you will work on a variety of civil projects, including apartment complexes, residential developments, commercial buildings, and office spaces.
Your typical day will involve visiting project sites, taking photographs, communicating with vendors, preparing estimates, engaging with clients, and ensuring a smooth handoff to the field team.
You will generally produce about three estimates every two weeks, depending on project size.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Estimate a wide range of Wet Utility projects valued between $50,000 and $15,000,000.
+ Ensure bids are completed timely, accurately, and competitively.
+ Download and catalog bid documents.
+ Attend pre-bid meetings and site investigations.
+ Maintain communication with customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
+ Demonstrate resourcefulness and creativity to secure the best pricing.
+ Review and understand bid scope and requirements thoroughly.
+ Perform quality takeoffs using Bluebeam.
+ Complete bids using Bid2Win software.
+ Conduct production reviews with the Chief Estimator and Director of Operations.
+ Consistently follow up on submitted bids.
+ Actively contribute to project pre-planning upon award.
+ Attend industry and customer marketing events.
Qualifications:
+ Ability to read and understand construction plans, geotechnical reports, and specifications.
+ Minimum of 5 years of utility estimating experience.
+ Preferred experience in earthwork estimating.
+ Proficiency in Bid2Win, HeavyBid, or Bluebeam

+ Work 45-50 hours per week, typically from 7 AM to 4:30/5 PM.
+ Flexibility during the day to manage personal tasks, but deadlines must be met.
+ In-office about 80% of the time and on-site about 20% of the time.
