Job overviewThis substantive Consultant post is based at the PRUH site. The remit of this role will be to enhance the delivery of Colorectal Radiology and Rapid Diagnostic Clinic services at the PRUH site and support general Radiology workloads.
The post holder will work within the multi-disciplinary team providing a range of Radiology services for Colorectal and Rapid Diagnostic Clinic services. For a suitable candidate, further subspecialist training could be arranged in post. The department has recently rolled out a home reporting solution for all radiologists allowing for the potential of home reporting DCC sessions. In addition, the successful individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the imaging departments while also having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff, medical students and associated professional groups.
Main duties of the jobThe On-Call commitment is aiming for a 1:16 rota delivered on the PRUH site and is classed as Category A. The frequency and on-call duties will change as the department expands. There is a commitment to undertake routine job planned work on Saturdays or Sundays as part of the total job planned PAs.

Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesKEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTogether with other colleagues, to provide a high quality care service to patients.Shared responsibility with other colleagues for providing 24 hours, 7 days a week cover for the Unit on a rota basis.Provide clinical supervision of junior medical/dental practitioners as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues.Responsible for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required.Responsible for outpatient clinic commitments in peripheral hospitals as agreed with the Care Group's management team.Contribute to the Care Group's research interests in accordance with the Trust's R&D framework.Contribute to the audit programmes and Clinical Governance programmes.Take an active role in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the Care Group's Business Plan.Conduct all activities within the contracted level of service and operating plan for service(s).Exercise professional leadership for all staff working in the specialty.Work in conjunction with clinical and other professional colleagues to ensure that the productivity of staff within the specialty is maintained.Undertake Care Group management duties as agreed with the Care Group/Departmental Manager/Clinical Director.Be aware of, and comply with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies.Prepare for and undertake the protective interventions that you are responsible for.Contribute equally with other Consultant colleagues to Consultant led 7-day services.Person specificationQualificationsFull FRCR or equivalentOther higher degree or diploma (e.g., MD)RegistrationFull Registration with GMCName on GMC Specialist Register on date of taking up appointmentTraining and ExperienceWide experience in all aspects of Radiology.Specialist training in Colorectal imagingAdministrationExperience in day-to-day organisation of Radiology services in a busy Teaching Hospital.Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills including the use of PACS.Management and LeadershipAble to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams.Management course and/or qualificationAudit and Quality ImprovementThorough understanding of principles of medical audit.Must have undertaken and completed audit projects.Research and PublicationsExperience of clinical research.Publication of relevant review articles or case reports.TeachingExperience of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and exam preparation.Teaching skills course/qualificationIMPORTANTCheck your email account regularly as this is how we will communicate with you.All staff have a responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
