GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Consumer Lending Officer presents members and potential members with lending products and services to satisfy the member's financial needs.
The Consumer Lending Officer will support members and potential members by opening new accounts, processing account transactions, and presenting information regarding lending products and services that meet the member's needs.
The role's primary responsibility includes loan origination and processing duties, which entail that loans are processed accurately and fully and serviced to the member's satisfaction while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.
The Consumer Lending Officer is expected to build strong relationships with members, vendors, branch networks, and other internal partners while delivering exceptional customer service that aligns with the organization's standards.
This role ensures that the Consumer Lending Officer can handle the full spectrum of consumer lending tasks, from initial consultation and loan origination to processing, funding, and compliance, all while maintaining a strong focus on member satisfaction and regulatory adherence.
JOB SPECIFIC INFORMATION Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Assist members and potential members with their financial needs, providing personalized recommendations for products and services, including loans and credit options.
Handle inbound and outbound consumer loan origination calls, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and timely loan application process.
Employ consultative integrity sales techniques for the member's advantage during loan interviews to identify and cross-sell products and services that meet members' financial needs.
Conduct daily follow-up calls and communicate loan decisions to members.
Provide support via the appropriate electronic communications channels, including phone, fax, and email, to ensure superior member service and timely responses to inquiries.
Prepare and process accurately and thoroughly all required loan documentation for approved consumer, credit card, and recreational loan applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with credit union policies and procedures.
Analyze credit reports, debt-to-income ratios, loan-to-value ratios, and other financial metrics to make informed lending decisions.
Maintain a pipeline of active loan approvals and meet turnaround time standards for funding.
Coordinate with members to obtain necessary documentation, prepare closing documents, and ensure all closed loans are accurately completed and signed as per TFCU Rules and Regulations.
Clear loan conditions, post loans, and process credit card advances as required.
Perform post-closing audits and maintain the application system with loan status updates.
Meet or exceed monthly sales goals for products such as Credit Life, Disability, Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP), Mechanical Breakdown (MBP), Mortgage, and Home Equity and referrals of any other relevant products and services.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending, and the Credit Card Act.
Ensure compliance with all credit union policies and procedures, particularly those related to anti-money laundering and the Bank Secrecy Act.
Complete required training courses, including BSA and OFAC, at least annually to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
Build positive relationships with vendors, internal partners, and team members in a collaborative environment.
Serve as a mentor to newly hired employees, assisting with training needs and providing guidance as needed.
BSA Compliance: Every employee is required to uphold the Credit Union's compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and anti-money laundering (AML) policies and procedures.
This role takes into consideration the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity that is relevant to the department.
In addition to any other assigned training courses, online BSA and OFAC courses must be completed at least annually.
Ensure ongoing individual compliance with all regulatory requirements established in the SAFE Act, if required.
Knowledgeable of BSA, Customer Identification Program (CIP), USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending, and Credit Card Act.
Comply with all TFCU policies and procedures to ensure compliance with such regulations.

Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma required.
A college degree or college courses in a related field are highly preferred.
At least three years of customer service experience in a professional services environment is required.
A minimum of three years of consumer lending processing experience or equivalent is required.
At least three years of Credit Union/financial services experience is required.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, percentages, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic arithmetic.
Understanding of underwriting guidelines.
Must display a strong sense of integrity in all of their interactions.
Proven organizational, critical thinking and analytical skills, and display the ability to analyze financial data related to the members and potential members.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and display a strong ability to multi-task and adapt in a face paced environment.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to all levels of members, non-members, and employees, including Management.
Participate in teamwork, as well as, the willingness and ability to learn new tasks and duties within a changing and work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment.
May participate or serve as a lead in a project for the sake of continuous improvement.
Actively contributes and participates in and completes all ongoing required loan training.
Ability to prepare reports with detailed feedback, and add notes in members' records as needed Must possess above average time management, problem-solving and prioritization skills Display a high degree of motivation, initiative, collaboration and actively interact and be an engaged team player Strong technical abilities to learn and effectively conduct transactions on member database, interact and communicate with enterprise communication systems, e.g., phone calls, messaging, email, etc.
Attention to Detail to read and interpret documents such as policy, procedure manuals and job-aides and provide recommendations for improvement when necessary.
Ability to apply math principles to transactions, and any other related activity.
Ability to work independently, display initiative and flexibility, with work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines in an organized and timely fashion.
Willingly adapt to changes in the work environment.

Ability to ensure minimal to no errors are made while handling their job functions and mitigate fraud and adhere closely to security standards of operation.

Ability to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends and overtime as needed Must have working knowledge of computers, strong administrative, operational and sales skills and must have practical knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Excel and Word to compile data and write reports.
