We're looking for an experienced and highly motivated Content Editor to join our collaborative team. You are detail-oriented, thrive in a fast-paced environment, can juggle multiple projects simultaneously, and have a knack for improving content quality while maintaining efficiency. You love to develop and foster relationships and enjoy (remote!) interpersonal interactions.
This role requires authenticity and, at times, scrappiness. Our team environment is a highly collaborative one where in-house editors work together to help one another succeed, support freelance contributors and colleagues across departments, and provide clients with outstanding experiences and content. The ideal candidate is a great teammate and someone who excels at delivering clear, constructive feedback, mentoring writers, and finding creative solutions to challenges.
This is a full-time, remote role for someone based in the U.S. or Canada, working Monday through Friday during U.S. business hours (PST, MST, CST, or EST).
Content Excellence Edit diverse content types, including blog posts, whitepapers, and web copy created by a team of trusted freelance writers and freelance editors across multiple industries.Ensure all content aligns with AP Style and client-specific guidelines.Provide actionable feedback to writers to enhance quality and consistency.Apply SEO and digital content best practices in your approach to editing.Support AI-assisted content production for select clients who've opted in, maintaining clarity between human- and AI-generated content. Team & Community Support Provide feedback to and mentor freelance writers and editors to help them grow and succeed.Participate in writer and editor recruitment.Collaborate with the Account Management team to develop client-specific resources and align on content strategies.Attend client meetings, as needed, to ensure alignment on voice, tone, and content goals. Quality Monitoring Monitor content trends and address client feedback to refine deliverables.Audit content for plagiarism and compliance with AI usage policies.Contribute to process improvements across departments to enhance workflows and outcomes. Required: 3+ years of editorial experienceExpertise in AP StyleStrong understanding of SEO and content marketing principlesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsBachelor's degree or higherProficiency with remote work tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and Notion Preferred: 5+ years of editing experienceBackground in digital/SEO editingAgency or in-house editorial experienceFamiliarity with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) and SEO platforms (e.g., Frase, SEMrush) Joining Compose.ly means joining a team of smart, collaborative individuals with ample opportunity for growth and upward mobility.
