Civmec is currently seeking candidates who hold a Degree in Law and possesses practical knowledge of Construction Contract Law. Ideally, you have 2-3 years of experience in either a private practice or within a business environment and be eager to extend your career with contracts, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills. This will be a full-time position based in our Corporate Offices in Henderson.
The Role

Drafting and administration of contracts and legal documentation.
Review of tender documentation and identification of contract risks.
Review Head Contracts using CRA and issue commercial clarifications.
Prepare and managing securities and insurances in accordance with contractual requirements and company policies.
Conducting and co-ordinating commercial and legal negotiations with contractors.
Assist in drafting of strategic pre-contracts agreements.
Assist in identifying, briefing, and engaging specialist external legal services as required.
Reviewing contractual commitments and interpretation of rights and obligations and assess claims made under contracts by or against the business.
Prepare contract suites for projects (flow down of Head Contract provisions).
Liaising with company procurement, risk management and audit personnel.
Provide advice regarding contracting, project/ contractual risk management, disputes, and insurance across the business.
Provide advice and input to internal estimating team on insurance and tender risks and pricing thereof.
Support the Senior Contracts Advisor in providing legal advice across the business to management and executives for contractual issues.
About You

University degree in Australian Law
Minimum 2- 3 years' Post admission experience in private practice or in-house
Experience in Australian construction law and /dispute resolution and,
Relevant experience in the heavy engineering and construction industry,
Good understanding of construction contract and risk allocation program(s) including critical path, float and delay analysis.
Negotiating and contract drafting skills
Ability to assist in the assessment of both head contract and sub-contract variations and claims
Ability to value variations and EOT claims.
Role requires ability to assess sub-contractor variations and valuation thereof;
