Job Description The Controls Specialist will provide skilled technical and engineering support to repair, maintain, program, and refurbish Mill electrical systems and automation projects. The position will assist in project management, coordination of work, and execution related to electrical maintenance, engineering, and automation. Major emphasis is on analyzing and solving complex technical problems and identifying opportunities to improve uptime, reliability, and performance of equipment.
What you will do: Coordinate small to medium scope projects for electrical and automation improvements.Assist maintenance planning and reliability maintenance with CMMS/Ivara system.Investigate, design, and procure equipment and spare parts for root cause solutions to problematic equipment issues.Solve problems, seek, and identify opportunities, and implement solutions with limited input from others.Respond to call out and trouble/repair calls.Liaise with equipment suppliers to repair and maintain to OEM specifications and modify/retrofit equipment for efficiency improvements.Repair, replace, or modify electronic and electrical process control equipment.Implement design changes on programmable controller and microprocessor-based process control equipment.Read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.Work safely and follow safety rules; act to correct or report unsafe conditions and behaviors.Attend and complete Company required training.Other duties as assigned. What you will need: Eligible to legally work in the United States.Associates degree from a technical school in a related field or 5 years' experience in electrical/technical support work in an industrial environment.Valid state issued driver's license.Specialized knowledge in Control Logix programming, hardware, and firmware upgrades.Experience with RSLinx, FactoryTalk Asset Centre, and FactoryTalk Studio and Client.Some form of IT or computer networking knowledge from Cisco or Rockwell software/hardware components.Working knowledge of Powerflex drives and power systems, HMIs, PLCs, large motor drives, and motors.Demonstrated initiative and independent thought.Ability to relay information effectively and accurately.Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.Recordkeeping and maintaining paper and electronic documents. Specialized knowledge or skills needed: Ability to perform routine and non-routine tasks.Ability to work with interruptions.Understand the sense of urgency required and act accordingly.Ability to work without direct supervision.Organizational skills and detail-oriented.Customer service attitude.Set priorities appropriately and be responsive to changes.Ability to self-manage projects and handle multiple tasks.
